The last few nights I have spent trying to completely empty and purge the 4x5 foot area that I grew the best buds I have ever had for about 15 years or so, and that I wish so damn bad that Topia still had in my picture gallery. I had SO many in the archives here before a couple of server migrations, and when I went to go try to find them to copy and paste for my own memories, they were all gone.
Then I went to the Canna Cabana and tried to find them there, also lost to a server migration. I had documented so many top strains, male/female ratios, whether they showed herms, whether they stretched or grew compact, complete with detailed pics and even macro shots, fertilizer details, and it is all gone. I never really gave it much thought until it was all gone, what a big part of my life that was. I grew pot for about 35+ years of my life. At some point about 8-9 years ago I just suddenly got sick of it. All the work, all the details, the ball and chain of being a pot grower that interferes with so much of your life.
I had to do a panicky 3 am chop when a couple of not so close friends got busted and started ratting on one another. I never did take the lights and stuff down, and like I figured it all passed with no drama. I was just done. Tired of worrying about UA's, tired of worrying about people getting busted because they were idiots and never brought back the jars I continuously gave them for transport. Tired of the never ending trimming, curing, packaging, all of it. I never started back up again.
In the meantime, my wife used it for a storage area, packing boxes and containers in there clear to the ceiling. We are preparing to move this summer and after 8-9 years it was time for it all to go. I intend to pack up the lights and reflectors and ballasts, as they might come in handy for making ends meet when I move back East this summer. The rest of it is all gone, most of it in the trash, as we are keeping to the rule of if you have not seen it in 6 months, you don't need it for making this move.
I am very amazed I just dropped it like that. I shared some absolutely top shelf genetics all over the world, and paid it forward more than I can say. I worked with a Pre '88 G13 hashplant that Sam the skunkman took to Amsterdam in the early 80's and shared with Baron Neville, of the Cannabis castle and the creator of the Super Sativa Seed Club, which was a completely novel Idea and kicked off the greenbud phase worldwide back then.
Neville created 4 strains with that hashplant cross. The original genetics were only used for two generations, then were lost and it had to be restarted from seedstock. Those 4 strains were known as Neville's 4 lost strains, and all 4 turned out to be critical genetics in SO MANY crosses today. The Pre '88 was one of those 4. The guy I got it from shared even some of the original Pre '88 G13 hashplant genetics with me. I backcrossed that breeding it to the short indica hashplant side for 4 generations, and then I popped some of the Butterscotch Hawaiian x G13HP cross that my friend had created, that the strain "Larry" was also created from. I found that to be one of the most enjoyable hybrids I ever smoked in my life.
I worked with those for a good 15 years or so, and shared that cross all over the world, on Overgrow, Planet Ganja, The Canna Cabana, and IC Mag. It was received with the same impressions I had, all over this country, the UK, Israel, Australia, and a few others I can't think of right now. There were indeed more paralyzing strains, but this one was such a happy strain, enhanced music immensely, made sex so damn nice, and gave you an all day good groove. It also tasted like heaven, and was one of the most pleasing strains I ever had in my life.
I'm getting ready to retire now, and I know I shared it out liberally on here. If someone by any chance has some beans with that name on them, please PM me. I'm not one to ask for much on here, and I know this is not good to do on the open page, and I hope ya'll have some mercy on me for that. I think it's indeed a special thing, and not the every day incessant people seeking something. Just figured I would put that out there, and whether I get some or not, at least now you are reminded what special genetics those are. Such a small space, but damn what fine genetics came to flower here.
