I have run basic varieties of cubes in the past, but I am trying PE for the first time...I am also trying a casing for the first time, as I've heard it can be helpful to PE in order to not grow weird fruits. If that is bologna, please let me know because the hyphal knots on the colonized substrate were beautiful before I covered them w a casing lol.

multi spore syringe -> agar -> wbs -> coco/straw/manure
Casing is coir w some gypsum
Temps are 74-79, rh is 92-98%

Thanks! I hadn't grown any in a couple years because I got stocked up, but I wanted to get back into it. I have a Pan syringe but I wanted to grow some cubes to get back into the swing of things first. Long story short, all my PE LCs, agar plates and grain bags were successful, so it looks like I'll be growing PEs for some time

I can't believe the concentration of pins on this sub! There are probably a hundred or more of them on here. The container is about 10"x6" and the sub is about 4" deep. I call it PE #10 because it is the 10th strain I got from agar plates, but it colonized the fastest. A bag of my PE#9 wbs just got put into some manure/coco sub. #7 and #8 are still on agar, and #1-#6 are all LCs from MS syringe. I'm excited to compare the different types of mushrooms that can be grown from one MS syringe.

Hey everyone...came out to the shed tonight to refill the humidifier, and I find some of the fruits are looking like the caps have opened already, and they aren't even 2" tall. Are these caps looking like they've opened, or do PE just look like that? Thanks!

Some chunky little fruits you got there. They look like they've got a ways to go . I've only run PE a few times but there's always a few that start to curl up early it seems. Lookin good and healthy. I like the dark caps on those.

Thanks! This is my first time messing with them and I thought the caps weren't even supposed to open lol. They seem to grow very slowly too, other cubes I've grown in the past would've been harvested already. I think they've been fruiting for 8 days and are still only a couple inches tall. But if that's how they're supposed to look, then I'm happy!

PE genetics you can way a long time to harvest. Those have at least another week I would bet. Just keep an eye on them, healthy and growing you can wait till the cap edges start to curl up and the stipes start to soften.

So this morning I went out to refill the humidifier, and about half of the caps were open, with zero veil to be seen anywhere...so tonight I pulled all the mushrooms that had open caps with visible gills, about half of this flush. Picked 159 grams wet, should get a similar amount when I pick the rest in a few days

Are these even cubes? Lol...no ring on stipe, no veils, I know my spore syringe said they were PE but other than the bluing they don't really look like cubes to me. Maybe I just can't get over the little caps.

Looks good! Some of those look to be monsters. PE definitely has its own look and sometimes you get some real blobby mutants in there.

That is a real nice tub you grew out there. Nice work.

Thanks for the nice words oldpunk. I'm much closer to beginner than expert but I was pretty pleased with the density of the pins. Other than taking super long, they were pretty similar to plain ol cubes. These ones were #10, I've got a couple tubs of #9 about ready to fruit. I'm going to try casing one and not casing the other to compare.

180 cubic inches of colonized substrate gave me 403g wet...this is after about 2 hours @140 degrees

So last night I ran out to my greenhouse, grabbed a lemon, ground up .75 grams of my freshly dried PE, and lemon tek'd that shit...somehow I got really messed up off of not even a gram lol. Nothing mental or visual, but a pretty serious body high, just watching baseball highlights on Youtube for like 3 hours haha. Looking forward to getting into the mountains and taking a full dose! I guess that concludes this thread, will be soaking the cake for a second flush, and will be introducing a couple more tubs into fruiting soon!

So this second flush has come in much harder and faster...I noticed after soaking that there were pins almost breaking through the plastic on the sides so I cut the liner and the sides are exploding! I have placed a other cake of a different strain from the same MSS, and let's just say I might be finding out about blobs soon lol
