Hello All,

 

So as the title says, this is my first Pan Cyan grow. I've been working with cubes for awhile now and I figured I'd give these ones a try. So I got a few syringes from (not sure I should mention any names but rhymes with Snores 101) and as most complain about, the syringes was crystal clear (to the eye). 

 

I put the spores to agar, 3 separate drops per 12 "plates", and 1, yes only 1 grew mycelium.

 

Pleasantly surprised, I did 8 transfers using my favorite little biopsy tool.

 

....as soon as something happens I can hopefully finish this post with an awesome experience!!!

The Gordotek is what inspired me to finally try Pans. The simplicity of it, not that it's "simple" is awesome!!!

Best of luck on this endeavour. I wanna try some pans for the first time as well.

I'm really diggin the biopsy punch. Looks like you got some good transfer material. I will certainly be tuning in and can't wait to see how your grow progresses.

I'm planning on trying the gordotek myself as soon as I exhaust some of this PE myc I've started. I'm tuned in and ready to see what happens.

Good  deal PerseidTraveler.....if you a tek  like Gordo etc..... Follow it to a "T"  No Experiments or variations .................do this  a few times to learn what works best for  FAE... RH  ect ,

From everything I've read and the pics I've seen, this myc is growing kind of think and slow. I was under the impression Pan myc was wispy, thin and fast(er) growing.

I've yet to try them myself. But the first plate looked good and the new on e looks like it's going to start spreading more ropey rhizo style. I'd bet you end up with a few good looking plates when they grow out a bit more.

The agar is looking good, and looking clean. Don't worry to much about speed, a lot of things can affect that.

Things seem to be moving along nicely, but I'm still not convinced this is Pan myc. I thought Pan myc was thin and whispy?

I believe the word you're looking for is Tomatose. IDK. I've always known pans to have wispy myc, and super fast too. Definitely not ropy at all.

I’m definitely no expert with pans, only grew them once, but the mycelium looks like cubensis to me. I hope I’m wrong about that, but it wouldn’t be the first time a spore vendor sends out the wrong thing.

You two are definitely not wrong. In fact, it's taking long enough to be confused with the PE spores I received at the same time as these.......

 

..and on another note, the last transfers I did are not coming along as expected. No pour agar jars can be iffy!!!

That is definitely Cube mycelium 100%.  Looks nice and Ropey tho', I didn't find Pans to be that fast on Agar either, but sure do RIP through Rye in about a week.  I found that Pans are Wispy with patchy overlay sort of look to the mycelium.

Thx MLR, I do believe you are correct and I'm going to abandon this grow. Like I said in the OP, these syringes came from a "iffy" site and my hopes weren't too high.

 

I have spores from a trusted vendor now and I plan to start again....new grow/new thread, hopefully I don't embarrass myself again

Hey man, nonsense, don't feel embarrassed for trusting someone, I've been there too, received 4 different "PAN" syringes, one was PE6 and the other three Tampanensis.  Old source had a huge 4th of July sale last year, and most were good, but I'm cleaning up my Yeti that I knew was contaminated from his shotty work (cleaning Albino Roller Coaster as well or ARC).  it's good to talk about problems, since we all can conceal them if we want in this virtual OMC, but the dude I don't go through anymore filters his reviews and is shady AF. Trich (PE Uncut syringe.... that I really wanted to Run, couldn't clean it up, 2.5 days and Trich went crazy (Twice on Agar and One jar of Oats) on the Plate, whole syringe contaminated and unworkable) ....and Pin Mold with a HOOD supposedly, I'm not buying that BS.  Anyway, I'm not a Debbie Downer personality type and we all make mistakes but OWN it and make it right.  Sorry about your luck, Keep at it, you will be successful.  After all my issues, a Peace River syringe fell in my lap, then a few more PAN prints so... Good Vibes to you and your projects.  You don't have to scrap the plates, some Ropey goodness there.
