Tis the season for figs here! I have multiple varieties with yellow or purple skin, yellow or pink/red interiors. Many of the dark skinned fruits and some of the yellow will be rinsed, have their blossom ends removed, bagged and tossed in the freezer. I need a few gallon zips worth to make into fig jam.

That's pretty cool Yoshi.  I've never played with fresh figs, or even seen a fig tree in real life.  My only experience with them has been fig newtons, lol.

I imagine it is like most foods, fresh harvested tastes better then commercially processed.

Not to knock Fig Newtons but yes fresh is much better! The varieties I have are moist, crunchy and sweet with overtones of honey, melon, raspberry or strawberry jam. Fig jam on a burger with habanero pepper jack cheese, some pickled red onion on the side, a little shredded carrot slaw, nice cold beverage. Maybe some fresh corn ice cream with cinnamon?

What day are you coming over? :)

Those look luscious Yoshi !

I love figs. Fresh are wonderful, but I think a fig jam over a warm Brie is my favorite rare snack......
