did i get the right lime?

lime and gypsum are different things,
and do different things.
rodger's right in that gypsum is called for in many recipes
and if you can find it you should use it.
the lime has a more narrow range of uses
such as lime pasturization,
and can be used to correct radical ph in the casing layer.

I did rr's tek but I used pulverized lime. It's crushed to a fine powder, and it worked great. I'll stand behind the tek anyday of the week!:cool:

RR, where do you get your gypsum? What is it used for other than shrooms?

theres a lil info on gypsum. if you have sheetrock laying around, break a lil piece off and your set.

when i first heard sheetrock i had no idea that it was the same thing as drywall aka gypsumboard

Gypsum is rich in calcium and sulfur, which are key to promote healthy growth in plant life.

When you say chalk you just mean chalk? Like I could just steal some from school if I find a locker-full (not that I have.....who would have a locker full of chalk......)? That kind of chalk? I'd think the little sticks would look funny poking out of casings...

I believe he's talking about field chalk. The type you would line a baseball field with.
