Hey folks!  It's been a minit, but 'ol Soliver is still out here kickin' it ...

 

I spent a weekend with a commercial mushroom grower, picking up tips and tricks - I'm working towards some Lion's Mane bags, but I digress...

 

This guy uses chlorhexidine - no lysol, alcohol, etc., just chlorhexidine.  Uses it to spray down his hood, prep area, etc.  He's super against lysol and bleach - something about it altering DNA ... he may be right, but he also told me he's a shape-shifter within 10 minutes of me getting to his place, so ... I thought I'd poll the community, as I'm not getting much from the 'ol interwebs.

 

I hope and trust everyone out there is well and moving forward.  I took about 200 grams to the Gathering of the Juggalos last week in Thornville, Ohio and had ... an interesting time.  Oh, and I came home with Covid-19 (this is #3 for 'ol Soliver) so I'm still in quarantine (I could stay in quarantine indefinitely - too bad it's only 5 days now).

 

If you ever find yourself at a Juggalo gathering, and a demented clown three tents to the left offers you a line of ketamine from the surface of his cell phone .... do that.  Woof.  My first time with that stuff, and I have to say ketamine may have been invented just to experience a Juggalo gathering properly. 

 

I digress yet again.  Chlorhexidine?  Anyone?  Bueller?  Bueller?

I donno about chlorhexidine, but I do know after using Lysol as a spray down in an enclosed space I never want to do that again.

Alternatives though? I'm trying to think how to both flake sterilize and spray everything down with iso- but upon one unfortunate mistake in a glove box going boom from the fumes, I don't intend to make the same mistake twice ce

Look into an Acid based Sanitizer callled Star-San avalibal at Homebrew stores , ...safe easy to use .

Chlorhexadine has a strong smell and taste that sticks for a while. My daughter uses a special mouth rinse made with it and hates it, and I use Dental Fresh in my dog's water bowl that helps his very bad doggy breath and helps keep his bad teeth in check. If you get it on your hands you can smell it for hours no matter how well you rinse. Just two small things to consider.
