Hi. I did this process about a year ago with 4 half pint jars. Now I'm starting up again.

I made 2 spore syringes from prints I got about a year ago. The prints are were stored in an old ice cream container I did not put desiccant in it so I hope all is well. My room is airconditioned during the day to keep the temp around 25c since I live in the tropics so not high humidity compared to outside.

The top row is Amazonian and the bottom is JMF.  Today is 7 days since inoculation I can't remember how long it took for the first signs of mycelium last year. Hoping this starts to take off soon.

Sorry I don't know how to rotate the picture to portrait in my post.

Spores definitely take longer to show, you should be fine.  Also, when I take a cellphone picture, which isn't the Norm, they always come out the same as yours (rotated left).  When I load the photo into the free Paint prog that comes with Windows (other options for Unix or BSD based OS's... Gimp... etc), it shows it's fine and normal (No rotation), just rotate it once (to the right) and rotate it back and save.  I know it sounds weird, but it works every time.  Example Below.

I took a screen shot of the original on my desktop, Nothing

wrong with it.  Uploaded it turns leftie.

And fixed, rotated right then back left (to trigger the file to save and correct it back from the right) All the best, I've always wanted a crack at cakes, I started with WBS when I first came up.  Anyway, good luck with the grow and hopefully you will see mycelium soon, shouldn't be long now.  :meditate:

Thanks I will give that a try next time. I think I'm going to try making a liquid culture.  That way I can test the LC on agar and be sure the spores are clean and viable before making the cakes.

In my experience, you will know within 2 or 3 days if your LC is good or not (Cloudy instead of clear, and if you look closely, you can see little dots or particle looking strands floating... ALL done), but it isn't a bad idea to test on agar, or a small jar of grains. I prefer testing a small jar of grains (Pre Covid-I was getting Oats for 30 cents a pound), if the LC is good, I'm ahead of the game and will do a G2G transfer in a SAB (If it's dirty, minimal loss). I have put a drop or two on Agar, or even a fully colonized seed to Agar in a pinch. That's the beauty of this hobby, there is Many ways.... To Play.  All the Best... OF Luck to the Finish Line!

Well now It's more than 14 days and zero activity on the cakes I inoculated aug 25th.  I did start 2 LC with honey and distilled water.

I used the remaining contents of the JMF spore syringe in one. The syringe has lots of nice cloudy mycelium starting in it. it's day 2 and already lots of growth. I'm not sure I used enough honey. I just poured a little bit in.

The other syringe with the Amazonian spore was empty no spores or growth at all. so I just added a lot of the Amazonian spores from the print directly to the 2nd LC jar. So far no activity but I expect it will take a lot longer since the spores were not hydrated.
