Looking for some help here I am kind of back to square one living in the epicenter of awesome mushrooms and yet have just had a f****** terrible time attempting to grow for like the past two years that I've been here

most recently the kick to the nuts is a hurricane coming in and destroying the double airlock room that I built to attempt to mitigate the spore load in the house that I'm living in..... it's just been headache after headache

so I just ordered a couple of spore syringes and I'm attempting to just go straight back to basics because my flowood's f***** and so spore syringes into rye grain is what I'm working with and I'm hoping that somebody can just give me a very easy no mistake possible prep for a whole library's (lol microphone- I meant whole rye berries) and using multispore syringes because I'm at my whitsend here.

I was able to grow so easily back when I was in the states and here it's just been headache after headache

also I believe it's possible but it's been awhile since I've looked at it but I should be able to do open air LC creation right from spore syringe pressure cook the liquid culture and then pull it out and then flame sterilize the needle and then stick it in the jar I don't need to still air box for that do I great I love all of you you're awesome

If I can just colonize some rye jars I can get an hugeeee outdoor bed going. Y'all definitely want to see the photos of that! Help me out!!!!?

Hello Severian,
If you are going straight from a spore syringe, classic PF Tek with rice flour would be your best option. For rye berries, you'd want to go agar first, maybe using a Still Air Box to help with contamination.

Good luck!

How big of a jar are you trying to inoculate and what type of mushroom?

The hydration level of your rye berries is going to make a big difference as well.  Always better to be a little dry then too wet.

Like Yoshi said above, going straight to grain is probably best to do with agar for high success rates.  If you dont want to mess with agar, then you might try doing a couple of BRF jars, break them up, and use that to inoculate your grain jars.  A still air box, and proper technique will work fine for this if your flow hood is down.

LC is a great way to stretch a limited spores supply to start a lot of jars, but it can also be a quick way to ruin a lot of grain with contams.   You should be able to tell more accurately with a BRF jar(or agar) that the target myc is what is growing, and all that is growing.

I know it's not the cut and paste answer you were looking for, but it's the best balance of information that I have to share.   And to be clear, I'm not saying you cant just use MS, or LC to knock up grain jars, but that's not the way I know how to do it.

Good luck, and good grow vibes to you.

EDIT: Grammar repair

Golden teacher in quart jars .

Agar is out for me- even a still air box I believe- my 'house' is just way too open to not have wind sweeping contaminants everywhere

I think 1 or 2cc's should get the job done.    So, are you planning on mixing this with poo once colonized?

And believe me I know agar is the way to go- I'm tearing my hair out not being able to put on my agar hat here. Which is why I've posted this thread- you get used to working a certain way and then bam- failure after failure where it was only success before is a quick path to destroying all confidence

You need to find a corner with minimal air flow, or build a wind break, plywood, old dresser (anything), something to "box" you In... and be liberal with the ISO.  A SAB or even a turkey bag, something to get ER done.  Do you have a camping tent?  Anything you can find to manipulate the environment to get your work done is all you need.
