Living soil style grows by StrayDog

My grinder just went and hid under the couch… that is so frosty!
Things can get away from you pretty quickly foso!
My goal of 2 weeks seedling and 1 week veg in soil Before flip runs away to 4-5 weeks.
…keep the beer cold and illl make sure I have extra papers and lighters before I crash through that finish line!
These large 100 gallon beds are great cause you only have to check on them every other day at max. But if I don’t have to check on it for a couple days I get out of my responsibility rhythm and let things go.
5-10 gallon took too much daily feeding watering and maintenance.
15-20 gal is the smallest suggested for a living soil style grow. Daily watering at its height. Feeding teas or amendments or top dressing weekly.
For my personality having the combo of fast veg for plant height….the 2 - 100 gal beds and the 3 - 15 gallons is seeming to balance the need to be in the room daily with responsibilities every other day or so.

Always nice when the fungi come in and break down the big stuff for Ya, I'm a recycled soil grower/composter... and I always enjoy seeing Parasol mushrooms in my compost pile and or Bin (and fuzzy mycelium in my cooked soil). They do their job and turn into food themselves, it's a beautiful (living) thing.

Thanks man.
I am very happy with the progress and stability of this grow.
I need to find a balance in the management of the foliage. I feel I went a little far last grow and wanted to back off a bit for this grow. I have done minimal at best with defoliating this round due to time and the scrog/trellising nets and the access to the understory.

Day 32
Just under halfway point.
Targeting closer to a 10% watering till now
Started to see small amount of run off on one of the beds last watering was pushing the 10%.
Will back down to the 5% target range and start to water a little more frequently at the 5% level to keep the range a little higher and then will keep the frequency of watering but split it up between the 5% level. So to less confuse that….
Around the last week of veg through the 3-4 week stretch I have been watering the 15 gal pots every other day and the 100 gal beds every 3 days in the 10% range. This still keeps the surface of the soil and mulch layer nice a moist but not wet. I need to drop back towards the 5% level for the next few weeks of flower as the buds bulk up. Last grow I learned that the mulch layer on my 100 gal beds dried out and this had/has its drawbacks. So my next watering day will be Tuesday. I will water around a 10% target on the 15 gal pots one last time but broken up between two days, Tuesday and Wednesday each getting a 5% target. I will then drop to a 5 % target watering every day with a 2.5%. The same theory will be done with the 100 gal beds as well.
100 gal bed - 10% target = 10 gal, 5% = 5 gal…2.5 gal. I keep the numbers as simple as I can.
Would have been useful to have a class in stoner math instead of geometry. I might have paid attention !

(Day 48 with the 1 week light transition)
Things are crashing from weight
Added support trellising in as best as I could.
Skunk

Strawberry Daqueri

The 10 gallons (I thought were 15 gallon…slight over watering on skunk) La sage on the left.

Last photo is one of the skunk. It is the smallest plant of all. I don’t think it was a runt because a couple of the branches stretched nicely they were directly in the light and shaded out the other half of the plant due to my light canopy limitation. Most def interested in the cross of this plant with the MB 233 pollen.
