So mad thanks to the whole community here,- never would have made it this far and learned so much without y'all

Finally seem to have got things dialed in enough that I'm actually looking at harvesting in... Soon!

After failure after failure here it Feels great to be staring at the evidence that growing is possible in this climate/house

So it's been awhile since I've had a successful grow- a couple of years so my memory is wiggly around harvest procedure

When exactly do I want to pluck these? I'm seeing one mushroom which has broken it's veil already- but also, lots of little baby ones

And the normal sized mushrooms still seem pretty small mostly

Question is- do I harvest most of the 'ready' ones, just after the veil breaks and leave the little ones to develop for second flush?

Ya so 378 g wet first flush- photos coming later

Had to harvest now cuz dehydrator sucks power and my solar system can only handle it running in the middle of the day- probably could have let them go longer but ^^^

Lots of teeny tiny babies!

Which has me confused- I'm thinking 'aborts' are those with the clearly darkened caps- am I right?

A fair number of those, but also quite a few normal looking pale colored caps - just way immature

So I'm wondering, what's best practice here? Pluck all mushrooms, size irrelevant or should I leave those which still look ready and willing to grow some more and give them the time to do so?

The latter is what I've done now, waiting to see how that progresses.

And, is there any reason behind the (what seems to my rather novice point of view) relative disparity behind some mushrooms developing way before others?

Ah- I'm working with GT in LC form

Hahahaha....just saw this.....very nice man!

Pick em before sporulation if you don't want a mess in the container.....else let em go and print them....

I think most pick the whole flush pins and all and then dunk.....some let them grow.....up to you really....

Aborts tend to have the growing cap darken and stop growing....

Very nice grow!

Thanks arathu- fattest mushies I've grown so far- not counting outdoors of course.

I'm curious why some other photos I've seen of others gt grows have caps which seem to be more... Fatter/rounder-. My last grow with redboy a few years ago had the same- iirc both indoor and outdoor....

Lots of fuzzy feet this round- and a big pool of water at the bottom- once they really started growing I took off the lid and put a rough weave towel over it (tv casualtys wettowel Tek)- I had placed the tub outside , and figured given how dry/windy it was I should be misting alot- also I found a 1 liter fumigator/handheld spray atomizer intended for plant spraying to work awesome- a really super fine mist far better than spray bottles I've used in the past so I think I went a bit overboard.

Quite surprised my house-compost worked as well as it did for a substrate (around 2/3 coir and 1/3 compost) - no manure this round.

Also, light definitely matters- could see that clearly In this grow as all the mushrooms were growing towards it- meaning the spot I had them definitely wasn't getting enough. I imagine this is connected to the amount of side pins I had this round too.

My last redboy grow, using boss monotub Tek without a liner had virtually none- but it was in a room with a ton of natural light. So!

I ended up waiting half a day to see if I'd see any other growth and when I didn't I cut off the rest and soaked it for 18 hours- waiting on flush 2 now

I ate one yesterday afternoon- 4g fresh- and it surprised me by how strong it was. But suuuper melow comeup- it was just all of a sudden- woah what do you know?

Substrate contamintTed pretty bad after the soak- checked on it this morning and one whole corner had gone to trich- so I cut that part out but if I don't see anything by tommorow it's to the compost gods.

So,, after dunking to initiate second flush, should I immediately start fanning again?

Great looking fruits Severian. Yep, after the dunk you want to put right back into fruiting conditions for the next flush.

Fuzzy feet is a sign of not enough fae /(too much humidity) right?

2nd flush coming in with some huge pins- don't wanna count chickens before hatching but shaping up to be the biggest mushrooms I've grown indoors yet.

Golden teacher

Here's some photos of 2nd flush

As you can see, definitely have some contam problems- ive seen little flies crawling up and our of the tub while fanning- I think these are eating theushrooms and causing the damage you see- unless that's something different?

The one big mushroom is an example of what I was expecting all the caps to look like

Pleasantly surprised - even with the contamination, 2nd flush came in at 300 g wet- 10% of that being from that one giant mushroom

After harvest, I chopped off a good quantity of the bottom of the sub which was heavily contaminated- then soaked for 12ish hours, and put back into fruitong mode- this time with some dry coir underneathe in hopes of discouraging further sitting-damp mold generation microclimate

Even with the damp towel on top it's seemed, by way of the fuzzy feet on the mushies still, that it's still too little fae- so this round I intend to put mosquito netting on top of the tub once I see pins developing.
