Been seeing ads for totally legal CBD and THCA buds that look just as good as quality greenbud and makes some strong claims, expecially the THCA buds, that when smoked, they convert to THC and work the same as any buds. I figure the THCA is similar to the spice crap they used to sell. Question is, does it taste good, smell good, and function like quality buds? They sure are pricing it like it does.

A good friend was asking me, and I rarely smoke anymore but I had been looking at these myself as a possible alternative. The only info I really found were scientific breakdowns, and info from people that were obviously sellers of the stuff. Figured i would ask some real people who tend to "know stuff" like this awesome community does.

I hope this post doesn't violate any standards, I am not trying to buy or sell anything. Just looking for opinions from folks that bought into it.

Peace ya'll...

Allrightythen. No input says a lot in it's own right. Whoever moderates this forum, feel free to delete it all if nobody answers by tomorrow.

I have never heard of this bud either Coop.

Seems like this would be a tricky plant to grow in areas that aren't cannabis friendly by law.

After thinking about it further I'm not sure how plants like this could skirt the law given that the THCA can be decarboxylated into THC.  It would be like growing a "precursor" for chemical conversion after harvest.

Not looking to set off a legal argument - just expressing my immediate thoughts on the subject.

I agree with all of that Myc. The info pages I found on it straight up says it converts to very good quality THC when smoked. It also says that the quality hash and keif that is sold in stores is also THCA, simply because it has not been decarb'd yet. To me that is all splitting hairs and flirting with legal problems. Seeing ads for this stuff all over, and it sure looks like the stuff, and they claim it smells and smokes like the stuff, however, I am quite certain that it likely is NOT what will help my friends wife's cancer issues.

Thank you guys for your answers. It seems I am not alone in my suspicions on this. Have a good day ya'll.

I am by far, not an expert when it comes to weed. But the old school I came from, the THC content of bud has always been THCA and that in a sense is why we decarboxylate before making edibles. We do that since we are going eat it rather smoking which the heat from the flame or nail or whatever, coverts the THCa to THC. I wouldn't be surprised if those are just selling regular bud with a different marketing strategy as not to attract attention from LEO or to not have the Payment Processor shut down their account for violating AUR policies.

Hey,

I lurked on this topic for the past few days. Heres what I think about it:

I live in a state that has historically been very anti drug but a city that is very liberal. I have lived here for six years and have watched local and federal rulings like decriminalization of cannabis in my city and especially the 2015 federal farm bill (legalized CBD) allow for much safer use, cultivation and distribution of weed though the last two are still illegal. In the last two years I have seen many cannabis related store fronts opening focusing on CBD and Delta 8 products. Recently though I too have seen many products in these stores containing new cannabinoids like HHC and Delta 10 being sold in vapes, edibles and even sprayed on hemp flower. In addition there are THC gummies that you can get that have actual D9 THC in them!

I use hemp a lot. Back in 2019 when I had just joined the site I had some very profound mushroom experiences that made weed extremely psychedelic for me and I wanted to smoke but not get that high. The second round of hemp flower I bought had good amounts of THCA in it. I think that the Farm Bill only requires D9 to be lower than 0.3 percent but THCA can be higher. Mikey is right THCA turns to D9THC when heat is applied so it is basically the same thing when smoked. My experience with that flower is that it will get you high if you have a really low T but if your T is high then it won't have much effect.

marketing strategy only.   THCA is THC that has not been heated to a sufficiently high temp.  CBD is in all weed.  Especially Hemp.

Hey Johnny, how can we sell this damn old dirty barely better than hemp dirt weed?

Don't worry Jim, I got us a plan for a fancy ad campaign using them there sigh-en tific type words.  Those stoner types will eat it up...

Yeah yeah, sure buddy.  That's what we'll do.

Just another casual observation here - building upon Gorf's hypothesis about using sigh-un tific words.

Is it just me or has our society developed an affinity for the Greek alphabet?  If it's a "delta" or "gamma" or "omicron" it must be powerful - or dangerous - or (whatever I'm trying to sell).

Newly discovered psuedo-TetrahydroCanbininol Beta carotene 7.  Metabolized into Delta 23 THCAbC.

Every generation seems to rediscover the actual meaning of faux and its 12 million synonyms. (after some financial heartburn of course)

The Israeli scientists have been working on analogues of THC for decades and much of their work is now evident in the likes of Spice and other such pot substitutes.

Google up some studies when you're bored . Dim bois bean bizy
