I have a question:  few people talk about endospores, and maybe I missed something.   The sterilization process may not destroy them so why not add the water (hot) to the grain in the ratios you note then let sit for 4 hours and then sterilize.  Would it make any difference???

You could do that or even put everything in your PC, warm it up and let it sit or even a gentle boil before adding the weight. I don't think it is necessary though,. Here are some bags I PCed back at the beginning of Dec, never innoculated just sealed. They seem to be doing well, no contamination, so far. The cracked corn in the WBS is looking a bit squishy though.

I've changed a few of the ratios for low prepping some of the grains. Wheat and milo need some more testing but for others:

For a 1/4 of grains

Milo* 2 Tbsp grain to 21ml water

Oats- 2Tbsp grain to 17ml water

Rye- 2 Tbsp grain to 21ml water

Wheat* 2 Tbsp grain to 22ml water

WBS- 2 Tbsp grain to 16ml water

For quart jars with room for g2g and shaking

Milo* 1 1/3C grain to 210ml water

Oats- 1 1/3C grain to 175ml water

Rye- 1 1/3C grain to 210ml water

Wheat* 1 1/3C grain to 220ml water

WBS 1 1/3C grain to 165ml water

For quarts that are a2g or LC:

Milo* 1 1/2C grain to 235 ml water

Oats- 1 1/2C grain to 195 ml water

Rye- 1 1/2 C grain to 235 ml water

Wheat* 1 1/2C grain to 245 ml water

WBS- 1 1/2 C grain to 185 ml water

Dang Yoshi.
Been out of the loop a while and dropped in to check things out.
Excellent write up and precise information. Gonna have to give it a try.
Good work.

Life IS treating me pretty good. But I've let myself book too much work and just haven't had time to start any projects. Well, besides learning and experimenting with making my own cannabis edibles. But I decided to squeeze in a mush project before summer. So I had to drop in and check out the site and look up some sub recipes. Gonna try a couple jars with this no prep when I get my agar plate expanded out.

Keep up the good work!

They are pretty close Seeker, the WBS has 5ml extra. The WBS I have (red bag) is mostly millet anyway. For all of the ratios I'm suggesting, you may need to adjust a little one way or another. I've actually warmed up alot to the low prep WBS, I don't rinse it and let it cool in the PC. Leave the sunflower seeds in too, they help with shaking and the mycelium eats them happily.

You know what Seeker, millet is 2:1 by volume, 2 Tbsp millet: 1Tbsp (15ml) water, for quarts 1 1/3C millet : 2/3C (158ml) water. Thanks for making me think! :)
