If you haven't heard
The weather people are modelling a Polar Vortex deep deep down into the south of the USA
Trust me, your cactus don't tolerate a hard freeze very well if they haven't been dried out and hopefully moved indoors for the duration. They'll tolerate temperatures hovering above and below freezing for a while but not much longer and not much colder.
I'd guess the same applies for most of the exotics we'd like to grow and experiment with.
The old guy in the room says it's time for some backbreaking work :)
I lost a third of my cactus forest a few years back to a freak ice storm and wouldn't wish that loss on anybody else.
Frankly, a look at the weather forecast despite the modeled Vortex just doesn't seem to support the possibility but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
