Hi all, I guess I've been away too long! Think I'm limited to posting here. I'm attaching some shots of a fungi in my front yard to see if I can get some opinions on an ID. Totally green, so would appreciate feedback.

Okay, need some ‘expert’ opinions; Anybody got an ID on these? Growing on (mostly) elephant dung, with rice hulls and cow shit occasionally sprinkled over the top in my jungle garden, under twice daily sprinkler coverage in partially shaded light under trees. Inky purple spores and light blueish bruising on stem from light squeeze.

Shawnintland,

Welcome to Mycotopia. Thanks for your patience during this Holiday season as we work to approve new members.

Excellent photos! You should give photography classes!

That being said, I'm no ID expert either but if you'll make another post we'll move this over to the Wild Mushroom forum for a better chance at ID.

Happy New Year!

Thanks El Jardinero! Guess I'll make some spore prints and set 'em aside until I get some better feedback!

It must be my phone that does the good job, I just spot what it needs to pe pointed at!

And that was the third, Thanks for your patience. I have moved this now to the magic mushroom forum, and left a link here as well for you. Glad to have you with us, and I am looking forward to more of your photo shares.

I see purple spores on the veil of the wild fruit, it looks like a Cube to me (definitely not a wood lover), but I couldn't be positive without further research.  I've had a few subs go outside, and the fruits tend to be more on the yellow side outdoor.  Outdoor Cubes always have BIG caps, my avatar is a PE6 grown on the ground with my home-made compost thrown on top of it like a casing layer.  Nice find and wonderful shots, thanks for sharing.   :meditate:

P.S big fan of Thai strains, BHT is one of my favorites or Lipa Yai, smoothest visuals (BHT) I've ever experienced with a Cube.  Outdoor fruits tend to be more potent as well, watch yourself.

Thanks MushLuvR! Appreciate the input. Yes, I also think they're Cubes, but I'm definately NOT an ID expert! Funny you mention it, but Lipa Yai is a village/town about an eight minute drive away from me! I remember reading a thread here a few years back by someone who had a lot of experience here in Thailand and who actually spent time in this exact area. Have always wanted to go back and contact him about his experiences as one of the farms he visited here sounds like a place just down the road from me. I'm gonna have to search him out again and try to contact...he had a lot of photos of shrooms and iconography from temples in Thailand/Cambodia. I remember he mentioned having had a bad accident which curtailed his World travels...ring any bells? Also, when looking at the publication of P. samuiensis I noted that the type location is also less than a kilometer away from my house.

For a while I was putting piles of elephant dung & cow shit at various places around my garden & nursery where sprinklers cover and had loads of what I was calling Copelandia cyanescens, but which were (I believe) reclassified as Panaeolus cyanescens? I made 3 spore prints of the pictured shroom and when I went out this morning to pick the remaining ones it looks like either my housekeeper decided to clean up the area or the squirrels enjoy them! :bat:  They'll be back! Thanks again for your input!

Everything here screams cubensis for sure, the look, the habitat, blue bruise, and purple spores.

I would 100% eat those if i found them in the wild while exploring Thailand!

shawnintland,

I think you're looking for Mjshroomer - a.k.a. Man of Knowledge

He has spent an extensive amount of time in your region. If you parse through some of his historical posts you'll find some pretty cool information.

If you reach out to him, just know that he can come off as a bit arrogant.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses!

Myc - I just sent you a DM, thanks for the tip!

Boebs - Yes, 'cubes' were my ID as well, but I wanted this to run for a bit without me influencing people with my 'guess'! Just spotted 3 new ones beside my front steps that have popped since the last rains. Really dark coloration compared to what I'm used to seeing but then again I'm used to seeing them out in full Sun on a pile of manure and these are on manure in fairly heavy shade.

Thanks for sharing!

It must be fun to live where you can find volunteer mushrooms in the backyard. Especially the good kind. ;)

Looks like a nice fat cap in the leaves there in the second pic @ShawnInTland toward the left corner of the photo.  Cubes will always have a spot in my garden (sentimental value).   :meditate:
