Ha, I get to do it: ARCHIVE MATERIAL

Is the manure you use pretty old/composted or still kind of fresh? How do you shred it?

What ratio of horse manure did you use?
Well I ended up with half of a standard pillowcase of straw after it expanded/fluffed due to past.'ing. And I used prolly 3-4cups (when past'ed and at field capacity) by volume of manure. I mixed throughly and in the bag it looked like all the straw was just a bit browner, and not really yellow at all. And that's the same they look now when finished.

Could you describe the smell you are noticing?
To the best of my ability...wet socks maybe? It's a very unique smell that I can't pinpoint. I'm almost 100% it's from the manure and not the log rotting out because i used some on some plants and they have they same smell. It's not that classic fresh poop ammonia smell either, again really hard to pinpoint.

Also, I'm letting them run in a covered Rubbermaid, not out in the open for stealth's sake...bad idea?

Would heating the chamber dub-tub style help jumpstart them more? They're at room temp now; 73 degrees.

I'll keep you posted, Thanks for the help Rev!

Bagged garden centre manure, I roll it around in my gloved hands to get it broken up and fluffy, have to pick out a few rocks and sticks.

I would think that would be fine, do you have light getting in? You want it to start pinning before birthing so introducing some light before it is fully colonized would be a good idea.

I wouldn't, I've had no problems with room temp myself, even lower then 73 degrees.

Has your log colonized more since yesturday? I wouldn't worry too much if it has.

Thanks again for the props guys!

gram for gram, probably not as potent as smaller ones, but still plenty potent. 4 dry grams and I'm tripping hard.

for the record....some "Starbucks" coffee houses give away lbs of spent grounds in the springtime. People around here use them as garden additive.

Foldgers mountain roast. I'm pretty sure that after water is run through coffee grounds they become decaffeinated anyway, also I've done a little research and it seems that they aren't acidic like I thought, after they are used they have a relatively neutral ph, so it probably isn't necessary to mix lime in them.

Room temp, I've never heated or cooled my grow area. If it's comfortable for me, it seems the same for cubensis. In the winter (dryer months) I need to hook up an ultrasonic humidifier on a timer as well as my coolmist to keep my desired RH. It gets dry in the winter months up here and my furnace dries the air even more.
