all you do is add the dry rye to qt jars, add water and pc. let cool and innoc

now dammit faht
that was a secret!
it's true
but one caveat-
if the rye is badly contam'd with endospores
omitting any soak time
ups the loss rate to contams.
of course you can just let the soak happen in the quart
by letting it sit overnight before pc'ing.
or get a better batch of rye.
still it's rare to see that problem,
i've made a few hundred quarts of rye
by simply putting
1 cup of rye and 2/3s cup of water in a quart
then PC for 90 minutes and voila!

heh... that sucks. yeah, i guess if you have the time and don't mind a bit of a wait, then by all means do a presoak. the rye sitting in qts is a good idear. :)

well... bad news... the dividers bin went to trich. :( I overcompensated for the air exchange, it being winter and all.. I basically ignored my own findings from earlier grows and let my bin get too wet... cased too early, etc. it's also my first rye bin, sooo... i'm going to just case those HAW's and try and cut my loses. :( so the experimenting is just going to have to wait. sorry... wish me luck.
