I was just browsing the vaults when I came upon the Wafer Tek. I'm amazed at the amout of fruits he got from one 1/2 pint cake. I was just wondering if anybody knows whether or not you can get multiple flushes from this tek?

i did this tek a while back. you can get multiple flushes. i layed my wafers over peat/verm then cased them with the same thing. it worked pretty well. make sure you dunk between flushes. oh and an easy way to cut the cakes is one of those metal cheese slicers with the wire thingy and the little roller.

I assume that Verm/Coir 50/50 would also work for casing materials on top?

can't really hurt but neither is PCing required
many just pasteurize, some 'nuke' it in the 'wave
others use right out of the bag.
it's pretty clean from a new bag
but one left open a few weeks is less so.

Nice! It's good to see people following OT's techniques, as they're good ones.

A FOAF has a spare PR cake about ready to go. I think I'll have him try this out. Looks easy enough. I'll have him try 60/40 Coir verm. I'll try to get some pics.

Nice, man! What did you end up casing with and about how thick would you say your slices were?

And be careful about bumping your own threads...you can go blind! Just kidding. Stuff has gotten so busy around here lately, it is easy to have stuff slip through the cracks!

Cool pics, too. I like the shadows.

60/40 Verm/Coir...slices were about a 1/4-1/3 inch thick.

Yeah, I was just really jazzed up about how well this tek works.

I read the thread that you posted at the start of this Thread Hippie But I am somewhat at a loss as what the best way is to rehydrate the slices in order to get the 2nd and following flushes....can someone lend a suggestion?

I would suggest just misting heavily until it pins again. All that casing material will act like a sponge and hold lots of moisture for the myc to grow with. You shouldn't need to add too much water.
