I don't know, but he has some nice stuff archived. I saw a softball sized straw nugget of his once completely covered in these fat daddy mushrooms! It was really nice. I guess he contributed and bailed like a lot of folks do.

If AFOAF tries to grow potent (smaller if the old addage smaller is better is true) mushrooms and still have large yeilds, would it benefit him to use the wafer tek surface area idea to bulk subs by having a thinner substrate layer that has more surface area?
Assuming that a thin substrate would provide a good pinset and produce smaller mushrooms, might they be more potent but retain a high yield? Or is that placing too many eggs in one basket?

BTW if we want the most surface area why don't people fruit their cakes on their sides like a straw log?

Sorry if i have so many questions its just that i have seen people grow with varying amounts of difficulty to get high yields such as throwing a ball of straw and dung in a box lined with plastic and placing it in a corner all the way to multiple martha closets setups. AFOAF is having trouble trying to find that happy medium of ease and yeilds, as AFOAF is admittedly lazy sometimes.

If you have enough tubs and room for them multiple thin sub layers will usually outperform one thick one, but not by that much.

Sweet, giving'er a try....will keep updated on progress. Just sliced and cased it tonight. Opted out over covering it with a top or plastic and instead, put it in the terrarium. same effect i think.

:cacti: starting to show pins round a couple of the waffers. And the Myc has moved through alot of the casing. PS. I cut the wafers to about 1/2 inch to an inch. Looking pretty good so far!

Rather than breaking up the network to dunk the slices, I would suggest misting heavily 2-3 times per day (unitl pins show - best not to mist pins). Heavy misting can do an excellent job of rehydrating your substrate.

DON'T GET IT OVERLY WET, THOUGH!!!

Any water that pools and sits for more than a few hours is a huge contamination vector.

Went on vacation so had to put all projects on hold on the refrigerator.
A thin layer of fresh casing was applied as well as a heavy misting...about 4 days ago.
The second flush should be pinning soon...will post pics when they do.
