This is a 60 coffe/ 40 vermiculite casings with BRF cakes ,the casing material was (NUKE) for 3 min , i was going to let the mycel recuperate for a day or two before casing it but i forgot and cased the top too with a 1/4" of casing. They are 8 strains cased : Mex Palengue , Lipa Yai , GT , PF , Strophia , Huautla jiminez , Colorado and Chitwan/Nepal. The pic of the casing with mycel are from today ,48 later. After casing them they were but in tropical air chamber , the humidity is around 50 to 60 with the tempature around 83F to 84F. What should i do , put them in the fruiting are should i wait until the colonize the coffe and then case again with some Vermiculite and horse poo, It will be my first time with Poo and i don't want to ruind or mess up these casings. I used drinking glasses because it's not easy to find wide mouth glass jars here but they work great . I forgot to ask that i allways have tempatures around 84F , will they pin or should i fridge them for 24 hours to help them pin.
Help will apreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!what do you think !Hippie.......//////

Best wishes ! Allways ............................////////////////////

i don't think coffee's supposed to go in the casing layer
you'd better add another layer of just verm
to cover the coffee grounds before they get moldy

you did add some lime or gypsum to the coffee mixture
to correct the ph, yes ?
coffee is very acidic...

No but , i have some , should i add some to the vermiculite. I tried this casing because i have read that coffe makes mycel grow faster and if it does is because the coffe should have something they like IMO , Hippie after a case it with vermiculite what should i do , wait 1 or 2 days or but in fruiting chamber right away.

Best wishes ! And thanks for your Help ............................////////////

here's my advice.
you're not really using the coffe grinds like they should be,
so i'd just remove all that
and recase it with a thin layer of damp verm.

you'll need to dig a bit deeper in the archives to glean all the details
but liquid coffee needs to be used to soak the grains before colonization,
while coffee grounds can be part of compost or bulk substrate
which is spawned with colonized grain,
etc.
but coffee contams fast if exposed to air
and it's very acidic
so you gotta use it right,
you can't just chuck some in the casing layer
and hope for a big fast flush,
sadly it just doesn't work that way.

I will love to nail or perfect this casing , we drink ever three days 2 pounds of coffee, you can say that we drink coffee instead of water ,my family is very close and they come over ever day and we are Puerto Ricans. We love coffee

I got some more cakes of the same strains that they will be 100% colonized in about 2 days and i'll try horse poo with straw, but with these one i'll add a layer of vermiculite like you said and hope for the best !!!!!!!!! by the way the mycel is white like snow ,the pics i took don't give justice to them.

2pds in three days! holy crap! if i drank that much coffee my house would be spotless and id be doing cartwheels in my sleep. ive personally never used coffee. its supposed to help speed up colonization? or does it help the fruiting part of the grow?

Yesterday when i was layering the vermiculite layer to the casing , the GT , Mex palenque ,nepal and the huautla jiminez mycel colonized 3/4% of the top layer in 48 hours . I didn't add lime at first place so now i'm just spraying some on when i mist.
I''' update ever 4 days .!!!!!!!!!!............///////////////.............../////////////

Best wishes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The pic i posted yesterday they were taken at 12:00AM and at 1:00PM to be exactly was the 48 hours after i cased them with coffee and vermiculite, the pics are from three casings that i quickly grab for the pics, but when i was layering the other vermiculite layer yesterday about 5:00 PM exactly 52 hours later some of the casing were 3/4 colonized with a pure white mycel , fresh shroomy smell and thick like mayonnaise, you couldn't see the under casing. Coffee has something they love , but the only thing that can go wrong is contamination , because i forgot to add lime at first place . So i added a layer of 1/4" of vermiculite and i'm spraying them with lime water . I'm taking all the precautions i can ,to reduce contamination and see what happends with the (Coffee Casings), the only thing killing me is the tempature is about 90F in the grow and i have two fans , i'll have to buy a air conditioner. They look very good so far and i'll update tomarrow if i see any change or mycel grow over the verm.

Best wishes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i took the casings and i put them in the fridge for 36 hours , the lower part of the fridge. Because i have a Temp/Humi meter that i bought from a hydro shop in ebay, it has indoor sensor and a outdoor sensor that is a cable with the little sensor at the end
so after the vermiculite layer i was going to put them in the fruiting chamber for pinning but the tempature meter was 100.01F and the humidity was only 45%, outside the tempature was 74F and 51% humidity so the only thing that i could do to help pinning is cold , so yesterday when i took them to the fruiting chamber the tem/hum was the same with two fans blowing to the chamber , i got so confused i was going to brake the chamber because i can't grow shroom because of the high tem her were i live i thought put the room was fresh with a nice refreshing brezze so i took the meter in the chamber and used the indoor meter because i was useing the outdoor sensor and bingo i was right the tempature is 74F to 76F and the humidity is 86% to 90% perfect for shrooms. The setup is a Martha stewart double closet with a cool mist humidifier, the humidity is so perfect that i'm using a timer for the coolmist 1 hour on and 2 hours off. !!!What i experience yesterday was really a bad trip ......../////////
!I'll update tomarrow , looking good so far !!!!!!!!

Best wishes allways .........////////////////.......................///////////////////////

I don't understand why if the outside temp is 74, your indoor temp would be 100. What's up with that? That's way too hot for fruiting.

Whats up Rodger Rabbit .////////////////.................
What i meant is that the temp/humidity meter was reading wrong , the real tempature in side is 74F to 76F and the humidity is 86% to 90% and i was going crazy because of the high temp readings in the broken meter. Sorry for my writing , i have been in P.R to long , there's no need to write in english here or even speak in inglish.

Best wishes ! Bro ...............////////////////////.....................//////////////////
