I was wondering if one was to chop up wet shroomies or even blend them, would there be a big potency drop??
I havent read anything that can give me a concrete answer to the blueness of shroomies when exposed to air. Sure its oxyidation, but of what?

Blueness of Shrooms Means that the fruit/shroom is bruised.

Bruising is due to handling the shrooms/fruits.On the streets some people believe that the darker blue a shroom is the more potent it is....Not true. As for oxidation I'm not really sure, but about choppin up freshies I don't think itll make a diff in potency.

a bit about bruising

Miller places this species in the genus Psilocybe, after Singer.
The flesh of this mushroom exhibits the property of
staining a bluish color when bruised or broken. This bluestaining
reaction is apparently an enzymatic oxidation of some
indole substrate (tryptophane, 5-hydroxytryptamine, or psilocybin)
and is a fairly reliable indicator of the presence of psilocybin,
not only in Strophuria cubensis, but also in other
closely related genera (members of the family Strophariaceae)
(cf. Benedict, et al., 1967

Other, non-psilocybe species also bruise blue. Blue bruising is not related to psilocybin content.

I never knew that... I've been told many times that only psilocybin mushrooms bruise blue... thanks rodger, now I'll never ever eat something wild based on bruising.

If you plan to consume right away, then you will not notice a change in potency upon blending or choppin.

If you intend to store freshies for a few days before consumption, then I would recommend keeping them whole, until prepared for consumption.

A favorite way is to get them cracker dry, grind em up in a coffee grinder and seal em in chocolate! I find them to be quite potent that way and they last a long time.....

Well i was thinking maybe to chop em up to a nice paste and maybe freeze them in an ice cube tray and when i want to trip i'd just take a nice lil shroom cube out and chomp on it. This raises another question of mine. Would they last frozen? or would the cyrstalization process of the water maybe break up the psilocybin molecules?
Any chem guys here??

I don't think you'd get enough in one cube to trip on!! too bad they would turn a drink a funny, or people would never know!!

IME freezing is fine as long as they are consumed as soon as they defrost. Reason being, after they defrost, they will turn dark and mushy.
