This is a simple 'how to' build for a home made air exchange unit...

First, buy a decent air purifier, this one was $40:

Second, take it apart carefully, but remember how it goes back together:

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162000626

Third, use a hole saw to cut perfect circles where you'll be sticking your hosing:

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162000671
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162000711

Fourth, use some liquid nail to solidly connect your hosing to your air purifier:

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162000765
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162000863

Fifth, if you want to color match just tape the areas off you don't want painted:

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162000914
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162000957

Sixth, put it all back together again:

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162001018
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162001059
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162001137

Seventh, use some rubber gaskets and clear silicone sealant to make your hose to tub connection tight:

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162001311
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162001396
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1162001440

This was an easy build and only took about three hours total. The cost was about $50 bucks.

It's timed at ten minutes, four times a day.

Nice clean setup there Water. Sure beats having to fan.

Happen to know what the efficiency of that filter is?

I run my humidifier for one hour four times a day which keeps my FC at 95% relative humidity all the time. Also, I run my humidifier right after the air exchange cycle ends.

99% Hepa filter is probably blowing about 50 billion contam spores in there a day.

However nice work with the quality of craftsmanship and ingenuity. I think that practicaly every grower tries to make some crazy automated air exchange dillys and humidifier gizmos, myself included, at one point. Sooner or later you may find that its not nececary however and go simpler.

Maybe, but fanning would certainly introduce even more contam spores than that.

It's very necessary considering I'm not around my grow most of the time (it's in storage). That's the whole reason I made an automated air exchange in the first place.

nice write up water, very professional, have you had the oppertunity to use it yet? i might have to make one, as i have the exact same air purifyer. right now i just run it in my closet 24/7 to try to keep it cleanish but that looks like a better idea

It's being used four times a day, and from what I can smell, it's working very well.

Anyone wanting a better HEPA filter, like 99.99% efficiency, should look at these:

Better air purifiers are here:

Always research before you buy.
