The Stem Butt Recycle project [cannibal cubies]

I composted the butts in a mini heated bin at 125F for 7 days.. The only addition was a little "seed" material from an outdoor compost pile and a bit of verm
for aeration..
The mix turned black and crumbly surprizingly fast...
So i spawned at a 1:2 ratio with Cake into this 10 inch dish...
About 55% of the sub is recycled Butts...
I have no idea if any potency increase will occur , probably not, but still a fun experiment -if i don't F it up...
1st pic - almost ready to case... and 2nd pic cased 80/20 verm coir...

The composter is essentially a tub in tub type setup...Using two 5 gallon metal buckets and a 25W light bulb for heat...
I use a kitchen garbage bag for holding the compost so everything stays clean.. The temp probe is attatched to a piece of plastic coat hanger so it
can be jammed into the mix.....
I'm also using this for slow pasteurizing ...I placed some triched out substrate in a ziplock and jammed it into the compost for a day and it was completely killed..
I did the same thing in a pot of 170F water for two hrs and it survived ..so there's something to be said for low temp/long duration pasturization...
Using a 25W bulb produces a 125-130F temp in the compost..
A 40W bulb increases to 160-170F... The bulb is in a Qt jar to protect it..
here's a few pix..

Then we shall see whether the tryptamines survived composting and can be re-absorbed into the new generation...
Anyone have a prediction...?

it's gonna be hard to determine if any of the tryptamines survived the composting. very hard IMHO. i guess you could go with a below "normal" baseline dose of .5-1g and see what the effects are, but even then the placibo effect could still come into play.
as far as pins .. kinda looks like there is one staring at us from top edge right in the center.. can't wait to see that thing explode though it's got some really pretty rhizos :)
one question for ya though golly..
was the cake you used to spawn MS or some sort of ISO b/c it looks like it tore threw that substrait.

compost. not for the same reason as you. i saw the mushroom farmers recycle the butts on the show "DIRTY JOBS".
GOOD LUCK WITH THE GROW !

If it's like a slightly more potent experience, then that could not really be considered as having worthwhile benefit...
It would have to be a dramatic increase for me to say this experiment is worth repeating....
Anyway the chickens haven't even hatched yet ....

Ya mean that show on TLC or DISC or one of those? I'll have to keep my eye out for the mushroom episode!

But the experiment must go on eh..Btw these are Texans not GT...
The second flush should be a bit sexier...Anyhooo..The blueing on the stems
is maybe slightly more than average but not enough to conclude anything..
I'm only going to dry the more normal looking ones for the taste test Saturday...

If this method does help increase the psilly, then one could keep recycling each subsequent generations stembutts - further consentrating the alkaloids....Oh my...!!...

the experiment you are doing is a good one.....I do not, however, think that the mushrooms will gain potency....and if they do, the gain will be very, very minimal........
that being said, some commercial growers recycle almost everything they can.....nutrients are nutrients
good work and thanks for sharing

GREAT SHOW, the host is funnier then shit.
i saw the same one and damn they grow a SHITLOAD of mushrooms.
lol the guy that harvests the mushrooms was Pro.
but damn, what a bitch of a job...
i heard that mushrooms are mainly made of niacin, idk if its true but i assume that your mushrooms would be able to absorb that niacin and hold it in their fruit bodys.
idk about psilly though, it might be kinda hard to judge if you get any higher from these then any other shroom.

Decided i'm going to use the second flush as compost for another generation, to gather more data...heh...
My problem is that these were supposed to be GT's and i'm not too familiar with normal Texas mush potency ..The next batch will be the "Teacher"
