thx
well, the cottonseed meal is my nod to those who claim some extra nitrogen helps increase potency, although i myself make no such claim.
the kelp meal is more meant for my dry mix since they likely won't have the same water i use, which includes some liquid kelp extract.
the kelp is for trace minerals mostly, just offering the organism anything it might need at every stage of life.

it is not required with straw that you case it. of course you can . i am currently doing my first straw grow as well and do not plan on casing them. if you do case it would b interesting to see the differences between our grows. what strain is that?

I would give that loaf a couple more days for the spawn to completly run through the straw.
Some strains (Pans for instance) REQUIRE casing. What strain are you working with? Cased straw may not pin quite as much as uncased, because of the less textured surface, but casing does have the advantage of a protective microclimate, and as a means of hydrating the substrate without getting it "wet".
60/40 verm/coir is an easy and trustworthy casing, as sharky's link to the archives recomends.

Just to let it be known, what method of pasturization did you use?
Best or luck!

I used her bleach and lime method...i have roommates so i cannot cook stuff whenever i want. It was very passive but an excellant method! as you can see! I will wait about 2 or soo days then case and fruit this beauty. As far as what strain, that is hard to say....I ad 24 jars...different types.
