Hydrogen peroxide will disassociate at the drop of a hat, a good shake is good enough to drive off the additional oxygen molecule. Almost pure hydrogen peroxide was often used as "rocket fuel" by the Germans in WW II much to the detriment of the fuel handlers, it's horribly caustic, very unstable & often just flat out exploded on it's own.

My money is on the growth being cells of the mushroom. The oxidation process probably bubbled off quite a few tiny hyphae chunks. Then, as the h2o2 lost its power, they were able to regrow. I think the spores were probably immediately destroyed.

However I do hope I am wrong. I have some rice paper used for making 'picture cakes'. I bet doing spore prints on them and then dropping that into peroxide may make for "instant lc"!!!!!

Either way, congratulations on a fine discovery, Golly. Regardless of the results, you have already shown great promise for this!

Still waiting on spore germination now at day 9 [although didn't notice growth till day 13 on previous run]

Speaking of which - these jars are coming along nicely now with no apparent contam...

Im really just in awe. This is a big deal, a very big deal.

I just created a jar with a maybe a 3rd or a half cup of h2o2 and about a tablespoon of honey. To that I threw in two small Enoki (Flammulina velutipes: http://mycotopia.net...highlight=enoki) pin heads. Each was less than an inch long. Pics to come.

That could be interesting BC...I'm not sure what effect the fresh peroxide will have on the honey which is why i waited a couple days b4 adding karo.

I'm still betting that my growth is from spores,,,We should know for sure within 5 days...

Well, I wasn't sure it would matter when the sugar was added. Peroxide is going to act on it one way or the other, right? If anything I figured it would destabilize the peroxide faster, but as long as it remains active for a while after the cap is replaced this should not matter. And since there is easily twice as much sugar as is necessary in the solution, any degradation (if that occurs) should be accounted for. .... I think?

The cake jars were PC'd...they are a mix brf/coir/poo/verm and are prep'd so they can be shaken to distribute spores/myc...

Only the peroxide stage is otherwise non sterile...

The whole idea here, is that you could take a wild or contaminated Cap and
toss it into a peroxide jar until mycelium begins growing and is then able to be transfered to spawn media...

Also trying dried shroom material in the same peroxide type jars - just toss some in ,shake and wait...:rasta:

Since shakable cake was mentioned, this is my second favorite reason for
using it - Maximum germination points from spore nock'n.. now at day 5...
Those are for the mini tray grow...

Those spawn jars shown above are now showing trich...They were looking really good, then BAM they're screwed...oh well,,,

There are some follow up experiments underway with spores, clones and spawn..
Will post anything of note,,,

Yes please do....It's possible that i may have introduced the contam when i added the Karo because i didn't take any precautions..
I'm not giving up - this is too fascinating and still believe that the potential for a usefull tek is just around the bend...:smokin:

Good luck Chip...!
Just looked at the jars and they seem to be OK, i dunno...Yesterday it looked like a powdery mold in spots ,i never saw green but thought it was the prelude.
What a drama queen eh...lol..Anyhoo I'm gonna spawn em to get the real story...Here's a pic..They smell shroomy...
