Wife and I just made our first batch of coffe liquor last night. It turned out really well. We used an old family recipe. Made a simple coffee infused sugar syrup by simmering 3c sugar, 10tsp instnt coffee, and 3c h2o for 1hr. We let that cool then added 1qt vodka and 4tsp vanilla extract. Let it all set for bout 1/2hr and let the White russians begin. Does anyone have a diffrent recipe that uses reg drip coffee or something nicer than instnt??

ive always made white russians with Kahlua (sp?) vodka, coffie, and maybe some cream.
i should try it with vanilla extract though, it does have more alcohol content then Kahlua.
is so much sugar required? seems like a lot to me. but it does sound good! id love some this morning!!

The ratio was 1qt vodka to little more than 1qt simple syrup. It did come out a little sweeter and maybe had a coffee kick between that of kahlua>and>starbucks. I think one could go lighter on the sugar.......but why again;) it ended up filling a 1.75ltr bottle. I want to try boiling down simple drip coffe w/sugar and seeing if I can get an even better coffee flavor.
