So Far So Good... invitro
Posted 04 February 2007 - 06:38 PM
Gonna stick with invitro, Jetson - I don't have the room nor privacy in my apt. for anything more than this type of grow. Although, that might change in the fall, a house with a yard would increase my grow-ops, but it really depends what I can afford in the local housing market.
Okay, I'll get the camera and take some shots of the jars.

I think there may be some pinning taking place in the 1/4pint, already. If not, just have to wait a little longer. :pirate:

Lots of fuzzy explosive growth on bases of all cakes. Need to fan more often (only twice today, shoot for 3x tomorrow) as one of the PINTS had the yellow pissy juice over it.
Does anyone ever remove the cakes from the jars and wipe the condensation out? Do you do so each day or every other day? Everytime you fan for air, or is that overkill?
So far I've done a bit of everything, wiping out jars twice a day, tilting on side to drain water and piss etc.
See what tomorrow brings... :pirate:

It's been 4 days since the Cakes were dunked.
Hmmm... still lots of fluffy white fuzz, more accumulating down the sides. No pinning.
The temp is around 74-75 deg, are exposed to the light coming from a Sun Lamp for about 4-5 hours and also given 4 AEs during the day.
I wonder if they are getting too much light?

Just leave the jars upside down with the 4 innoculation holes uncovered, and that should be plenty of air. Also they really only need a few minutes of light a day.

Thanks for the input, Meatwad.

I'll have to try growing in trays, when I get a roomier home.

I took some photos, this evening, of what I think may be two primordia poking up through a thick wad of Fuzzy White.
What do you think? Not a rhetorical question, either.
(Both are at about 12'oclock in the jar-face)
the suspense builds...

waiting until day 30 to begin giving light is a big mistake for invitro pinning, no such thing as too much light but it's going to be awhile before pinning as it depends on light, figure about a minimum of 10-14 days after beginning light before any hope of an invitro cake pinning.
Actually, they were given light from DAY 1 approx. 5min in the morning and 5min in evening, for some reason I didn't mention that before, my mistake. :flash:
As of tonight, there are 3 or 4 more caps protuding through the Fuzz on the 1/4 pint, and I think there may be a single cap in one of the former PINTs. Yay!
I  this hobbie.

I'm proud of the 1/4 pint, especially since I've totally mishandled her...
actually fell out of the jar and rolled down the floor. :gah:
Luckily enough didn't bruise too much... man did I ever feel bad about that!
The last three photos show some primordia/mushies growing
on either side of one of the ole PINT cakes.
The fourth photo you can see through the bottom of the jar
it's really fuzzy and moist, hope for pinning in there, maybe.

Growth in the past 2 days has been phenomenal.
It's amazing how convoluted and twisted mushies can get.
All shots taken of the 1/4 pint, there are a few pinnings
on another cake (not shown) as well...

Are you opening the jars every time you take a picture? It may be best to leave them be...
You have a point, Sidestreet... actually I've timed photo ops
around Air Exchanges (roughly every 2 days or so)
Fruiting this am is very good.
Likely won't have anymore pics till harvest.

between the 1/4 pint, and one of the ole Pint jars,
managed to produce approximately 1.7 g of dried mush.
Next measurement, I'll include a photo of the reading...
just happened to receive a 300-Z today!
There are a few pins on the last 'ole pint cake,
not quite ready to pick it yet.
The 1/4 and other ole pint cakes have been picked
and dunked (15 & 1/2 hours each in fridge)
and back into jars for next fruiting.

and CONGRATULATIONS on your ride
I like those z's.
How fast have you had it so far?
Make sure you take that curve hugger out in the sticks, you'll love it.
