Rez Effect is a great way to extend a grow coming to an end, or to give a shot at salvaging myc from incomplete colonization.
here are six different strains in either verm or coir rez effect.

HillBillys:

at the final stages of a grow, one brf cake was crumbled and combined with dampened verm straight from the bag in a food tray.

the first flush was nice. the second flush was far less and the mushie seemed to grow out from a very dense stemlike base, where it expanded from that point. strange.

a third flush pumped out one big one.

Tapalpa:

a rye mycro-bag was incompletely colonized with Tapalpa. the good portions were saved and dunked in the fridge for almost 4 weeks. then 2 gladware buckets and one cereal bowl rez effect with verm were made.

the glad ware fruited decently but succumbed to trich after one flush

the cereal bowl was fruited inside of a salad bowl terrarium with perlite. two nice Tapalpan's popped out and then trich appeared. but at least it was something, and every little bit counts :D

Ecuador:

an incompletely colonized rye quart was 90% colonized with Ecuador. the bad portions were removed and the good myc was crumbled with 2/3 verm and 1/3 coco-coir into a food dish. at least a few fruits would allow a print to be obtained for the strain to continue. rez effect is worth the shot. :)

South Americans:

One S.A. cake that had already pushed out three flushes was crumbled into dampened verm out of the bag. after three flushes, it is all just trying new things.

what is wrong with these mushies? they look deformed a little. Can't wait to see what they look like when the caps open. my friend will keep you posted.

Hawaiian's:

one Haw cake crumbled into straight coconut coir. Hawaii and coconuts seem to fit well. all of the above rez containers recovered for 5 days at 82 degrees in darkness with minimal airflow.

will keep you posted on this one but it looks alright so far. he has his fingers crossed.

Z strain:

these mycobags were re-used. the filter patch cut-off, and polyfil, watercap, rubberband and polyfil were used for airflow. a bandaid and piece of tape for the injection port. probably lucky it colonized this far. and the work involved to re-use a mycobag is not worth it imo. i would rather buy them from Hip. anyhow lets see how my friend does with rez effect on this popcorn z strain bag as you see it. he was thinking straight coco-coir. what do you think.

Rez effect has some very nice advantages. i must say that my friend lost several rez effect trays and containers to contams also. but it is sometimes worth spreading out your chances. good luck to all peoples and there projects and updates will be posted here. ;)

rather suprised you were able to re-use the bags at all.
nice grow log.
i find a blend of coir with verm actually performs a bit better
than either by themselves.

yeah :) he has been busy trying to get every last potential fruit with rez before all grows expire.

i find a blend of coir with verm actually performs a bit better
than either by themselves.

so from now on it will be 66% verm and 33% coir all around  thanks

here is what the above S.American rez-bucket looked like 12 hours later sa bigger.jpg

hopefully the HAW's and Z's can perform like the others under the conditions they were provided with ;)

Really cool experiments that your friend has there. :eusa_clap

I am encouraged that there are people out there making use of other than perfect spawn.

Waste not want not.

your use of containers is inspired.

Have you ever considred ditching the containers after colonization and letting the rez-cake fruit from all sides ? A crude wire basket can be used or any upside down lid that will alllow all sides to fruit simaltainiously. IME adding to the available surface area for fruit = a bit more fruit ( i.e. PF Tek )

cant wait to see the HAW's they are a favorite.

Are they hillbilly 's HAW's ?

here is the haw on straight coir rez. only one flush grew before the bowl contamed.

as for the z strain bag not so much luck. the interior of the colonized popcorn had green spots all over the kernels. however three trays were made with okay looking kernels with a verm/coir mix. but after three days all three trays were covered in green contam.

you win some you lose some. rez effect is worth a try sometimes

so this thread is a little old...
but the title says rez effect: six strains

however the Z never fruited here so the sixth strain will be F+

one half of a pint cake was used.
the jar never finished colonizing.

the healthy myc was gathered and dunked overnight and mixed with dampened verm straight from the bag.
then let to recover in 80 degree darkness for 3 days,
until being put in the fc.
