found this in the archives -

Basic millet recipe for 1 pint jar:

- 100g (3.5 oz ~140 ml ~0.59 cup) millet
- 80g (2.8 oz ~ 80 ml ~0.34 cup) water
- knife tip full of gypsum

another formula
200 ml millet,
140-150 ml water in quart jars.
No soaking, just add the grain and the water and PC for 75min.

Just Cased my Oat spawn in Gallon ziplocks, at day 9 ...

Used a 70/30 shredded mulch / verm mix and placed in this high tek fruiting chamber...[grocery bag]... heh...

Shooting for a speedy 24 day, spore to harvest ,if the Gods be willing..:eusa_pray

Thnx Faht,,here's something for ya...

Using Faht's jar tek with cooked Oats ,this Pan clone is doing very well at day nine..
You can see the original black stem section where growth began...

This time the oats were not cooked until creamy because i don't want the syringe to clog with oat goop, when i inject with sterile water to make a mycelium syringe..
They cooked about 10 mins ,then PC'd 1hr..

I also made 3 LC's , 3 Agar jars and 1 LC for a stir plate ..But this Fhat jar is by far the best growing of em all, the other oat jar is also growing well but only about half as much Myc at the moment...

Hey Golly,
Are you saying that your clone was dispersed in the jars, agar, LC, and the oat jar? And the one on the oats is doing the best?

awesome,
Makes me think that I could try that in pint jars with a bit more oats. Then just add a pasteurized poo mix on top and fruit as is, eh?
Kinda Waylit/Golly style.

I wouldn't waist a whole clone in one jar, but you get my drift right?

Gotcha,,If you do use more oats in a jar ,it maybe helpfull to add a sprinkle of dry verm to absorb any extra moisture that may cause problems..

That is real cool, golly. I thought about using some once and never got around to it.

I made an interesting observation at a restaraunt once. There was mycelium of some kind growing in the black pepper shaker. It was on of those that grinds the pepper so it was whole pepper seeds.

Hot pepper shrooms eh..!

Well the Oat bags are pinning ..just might make that 24 day deadline..will post pic tmrw...

In the mean time i made a batch of Oat cakes for a Panaeolus experiment.
Quaker oats cooked about 7 mins to hydrate ,then mixed with twice the volume of dry verm..

Loaded jars to 1/3 inch below the rim and topped off with damp potting soil..

covered jars with foil then rings/lids..PC one hour..

Jars will be inoculated through the foil and lids replaced..
The Oat/verm mix was applied loosely ,so there is plenty air for the first 75% of colonization , at which point the lids are loosened for additional FAE.
Will be using an isolate on half and multispore on the rest...

Here's a nutrient comparison from TMC..
.......................Total minerals........P....N....K
Brown rice----------1.1%-------------.3--1.5---
Rye grain-----------1.9%-------------.3--2.0--.5
Rolled oats---------2.4%-------------.5--2.6--.4

OK, now at day 20 from multispore - the first bag to pin was the Oats/mulch
mix ..
I accidentally sprinkled on a verm layer [it was supposed to be 100% mulch]

The Oat/verm bag was cased with mulch and is just begining to pop...

Should be able to harvest tmrw on day 21 ...they're kickin it..By comparison
the bags i made earlier with rice in another thread are 5 days older and just now pinning up...

Here's the oat/mulch sub...

that is beautiful, golly!
congratulations on your success!

one question, about those half pints, what do you intend to do with it? birth it? or let it fruit as is? :) would that work with brf+verm mix and use a potting soil 'barrier' as well?

Yup ..Gonna do em WLJ style and fruit in the jar..The soil layer is part barrior
and part casing..BRF will work as proven in the "Radel's cake" thread..

Apparently, all thats needed for primordia to form , is a soil or compost layer
which can be either pasteurized or sterilized...I'm searching for the ultimate ,simple and dependable method...

What's also needed is an easy isolation method for Pans, so the small jars can give max returns..The real test with that oat jar isolate ,is to see if it can transfer cleanly to the half pints...
