this is the bin from before that has the fine grade verm in it...

this is the link that that pic is from.... http://mycotopia.net...ead.php?t=19167
if you look at that entire thread, you can see how unevenly the bin is forming, I believe this is due to the fine verm making the cakes denser which makes water movement throughout the cake more difficult in certain places which makes growth uneven. This is all just what I've come to in my experience but this has also been seen with other strains that I've done in the past as well, those being, PE and PF redspores. :) any additional input is welcome as always.
I will update the progress of the 'new' bin as it grows... like I said, it's not really done yet, I think that it will look a lot fuller than that first bin I did when all is said and done. :)

Did you notice any difference in colonization? IME there isn't one...
Personally I prefer handling medium grade verm over fine. Mebbe there's no difference but it feels like less of a mess-maker to me.

which is probably more towards the early pf recipe now that I think about it. but basically you want the mix just wet enough before it gets gooey. of course it varies a little too.. I don' t use exactly the measurement on the cup.. I mound over too.. but this is the most important...

I'd suggest dunking or fractionally adding water to your casing layers the first couple days... the cakes need to be properly hydrated. the mix before birth isn't as important as the post birth hydration. :)
