Keep in mind all you anti-gun people that if guns are made illegal the criminals will still have them and only the honest people will not be armed. The whole country would be wide open to attacks like this.

Its truly sad this happened, and has happened before. And like Hippie says, if we're armed, someone will think twice before doing these kind of violent acts.

don't just sit there paralyzed with fear, like sheep,
as the guy re-loads.
and don't fucking run away.
charge !
rush the shooter, it works.
more than a few dead cops
who learned that the hard way.
don't cower behind a desk/car
as the shooter walks up on you.
run straight at him,
not only will that greatly surprise
the little egomaniac
but it's hard to hit a moving target
esp. one that's tackling you.
ok, maybe you'll get shot
but that doesn't mean you're dead,
hard to aim while getting tackled, too.
and your bravery will draw others
and once two or three men jump on him
he won't be reloading anymore.
these kinds of murders show clearly
why pacifism is a bust.
how about those amish school girls ?
turn the other cheek my ass.
kill or be killed.
that's the real law.

I don't think I'd run and turn my back though, and don't think I'd try hiding, being a sitting duck isn't my thing. Rushing a shooter though, thats a wise move imo. Gives others around you courage as well. If I died because I rushed a shooter, then maybe I stopped him from killing more because it gave them a chance to finsish what I started?

that there was no greater act of love
than for one person to lay down their life
to save another.
now i'm no bible-thumper,
not even a Xian.
but i can dig what the man was saying
and he was right.
i mean we're all dead men walking,
you wanna die pissing your pants
or you wanna be a hero?
one of my favorite scenes from carlos castenda's works
was that of an old bum dying on a park bench in the city.
don juan commented that the dying man
had 'power'
in that there were many watching as he died,
he did not die alone, un-noticed
as so many do.
there is something
worth thinking about
in that little homily.

In line with the hipster, I think the 9/11 flight over PA also shows that we cannot stand by and be sheep and must act or die trying. If I see a terrorist on a plane, I sure as hell ain't gonna stand back and watch and do nothing.
A person that is goin to take time to reload and keep killing is is giong to kill anyone that is around him regardles if they tell you it will be ok just do as i say and you won't get hurt. Take a second say a prayer grow a pair and like Hippie says rush his ass! the worst that will happen is you will die fighting for your beliefs not cowering and hoping for the best.
It is hard to say what one would do in a sitiuation such as this, in a painc to get away, maybe no one had time to rush him.

When you outlaw guns
Only outlaws will have guns
I know that is old and tired, but it is the simple truth the anti gun establishment can not deny.
I can not understand the thinking behind someone doing something like Columbine, or VT, but we do see the world is breeding more and more of these mass murderers as time goes on. How do you simply blame this on the American way of life, TV, video games, or other well used excuses. You can not this time. But maybe he was such a sensitive soul America corrupted his Judgement.........wonder what bullshit we will hear next.
I am thinking this is all going to come out that it was over a girl breaking up with him or something similar.

on modern 'parenting' techniques
that have created an entire generation
of self-centered amoral brats
that never got told 'no'
that never got punished.
then when they grow up
and discover the real world
ain't their mommy
we get this-
a temper tantrum of epic magnitude.

How this many people could be senselessly shot and terrorized by one man, in these days after 9/11, is hard to understand. How?.., did no one in this 2 hr period recognize the guy as a threat? At some point, his back had to be turned to someone. I think I'd rather go down making some kind of attempt to stop him rather than cowering on the floor as he pumps bullets in my back.
Not trying to blame anyone but the terrorist, but someone has to stand up.
Damn shame I tell ya, damn shame... foster

amazes me that no one put a stop to his shooting spree
quicker.
no one should be able to shoot that many
without getting shot back at.
arm yourselves and your family,
learn to shoot accurately
and place your firepower
on their vitals.
don't be a victim/target.
Too bad Virginia Tech, like most colleges, banned all firearms from campus.
A bill in the Virginia legislature last year that would have allowed students with concealed weapons permits to carry their guns at schools was killed, with VA Tech spokesman Larry Hincker heralding the move as action that would "help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

It is important to note that there was a shooting at the Virginian Appalachian School of Law in 2002. Students with gun permits ran to their cars and grabbed their guns and ended the killing spree with only 3 dead.
