Very cool stuff on movies and the universe, I like.

Nothing pisses me off more than getting stuck in someone else's boring movie.

at least it's fair
in that
by the time
it's all over,
done and said
you'll have gotten to
play the lead role
in every movie.
some lifetimes suck,
who wants to be the
guy shoveling out the king's stables ?
but we take our turns
because maybe next time
we get to be the king.
it's good to be the king.
worth even a few lifetimes as a serf.
because we all are one,
we get the full experience of the entire drama.
i can see myself thru someone else's eyes,
and even see myself in someone else's eyes.
i look inside me
and i see you looking back out.
i remember the pain of giving birth,
and the pain of being born,
the joy of finding first love
a million times over.
because all we really are
is a point of view.
just like we are
when we're sitting in the movie theater.
just one way of looking at this universe.

I can get lost in the archives for hours. Thank's for that Hippie and the space you've provided. I would imagine the respect you get from the members shows appreciation.

Do you consider Mycotopia something you own?

If the circumstances arose that made you focus your attention elsewhere, is there someone that you would trust to run the site righteously?

two very different issues.
plz allow me to answer the last question first.
yes.
we've already laid contingency plans for the work here to continue uninterupted
in the event of my sudden disappearance/demise.
IMOK, our longest serving mod here,
is my right hand man.
Zen, my left.
both have proven themselves many times over.
they have everything needed to take over the site and keep it going indefinitly.
so relax on that score,
this ain't no one-man show.
there's a team with a plan.

as to you first question,
before i could answer it
i think first we really need
to define what YOU mean when you say
mycotopia.
my definition might not match yours
which would leave me
answering the wrong question.
what do you consider
'mycotopia' to be ?

Where would you like to see Mycotopia say 5 years from now?

Do you fear burnout (for yourself) due to the nature of the beast itself?

to define what YOU mean when you say
mycotopia.

Physically - The content of this site.
Philosophically - This space and system you have laid out for this community to exist.

to be honest ?
i'd like to see it
as a line on my bank statements
that i never read
'cause i'm too busy
chillin' on the beach
under a palm tree,
drink in my hands
watching jiggly young maidens
learn to belly-dance.
yes,
i've decided that i'm moving to the tropics
and becoming a belly-dancing instructor.
i'll open a school right near the beach.
once a month a plane will fly in
with my mail
and there'll be letters from the folks back here
that everything is going just fine.
but i proly won't read them either
'cause i'll need a nap.

got any distinguishing tattoos or scars?.... Posted Image
but for real.. My question is... if you had 10 mins of national TV coverage, which you knew would be played in every school across the country what would you say to the youth of america, what wisdom would you bestow on the children of this nation?

i think i'd tell them jokes,
maybe a funny story.
i'd love to make them laugh.
it's about the most positive thing
i could possibly do
in just 10 minutes.

have you ever considered the edible, medicinal and commercial aspect of this hobby as a possible future(how about a huge greenhouse behind the belly dancing school)?

what i mean is have you ever thought about investing the time and effort you spend or spent here, and put it towards the edible, medicinal market?

not for the money part but the medicinal and nutritional values we know some fungi have.maybe finding a new species that will aid in curing illnesses?

you have done a great job on the net hip, but can not be taken as seriously as stamets or other mycologist, you are the like stamets of the underground.

did you ever want to take it overground?

oh yeah.
i get burned out from time to time.
i'm human.
and you can tell when i do
because my post count here drops off.
in fact, i'm just coming off
about a two month burn-out.
and i've had others before.
the mods and good people here
pretty much keep the show going all by themselves,
i'm not needed here anymore as much as i used to be, back when we were much smaller.
there was a time when my posts were almot 50% of our daily activity here.
now on a busy day
i'm often less than 10%.
others have come to take up my slack,
rodger and soliver, faht, hidra, highflyer.
and there will be more in the days to come.
my hope is to one day be able to take a real vacation, and go away for a few months at a time
with 'topia still humming along in my absence.
that'd be sweet.
i really need that vacation.

physically, the site contents-
yes.
i do have legal ownership
of much of the content
and all of the format itself.
not that i really sought after such ownership,
but over time
we were forced by circumstances
to recognize
the rules and laws of society
that apply even here.

lemme run it down to you-
i had to file for legal trademark
on the name
mycotopia
not because i'm a prick
intent on getting rich
but because
some other fucker
was trying to steal it for himself
by filing for the trademark behind my back.
you dig ?
if i didn't take legal ownership,
someone else was going to.
you can't leave something that's valuable
just lying around without a legal owner.
sad but reality.

philosophically-
the spirit of mycotopia
i cannot 'own'.
i look at mycotopia
kinda like it was my own child.
thru pain
i gave birth to a living thing,
i molded it in my image along the way
but i do not own it
and one day i will set it free
to go its' own way without me.
i'm doing my best to prepare it for that day,
helping it to mature, grow up, get strong.
i'm a parent, not an owner.

not really.
i'm getting old and fat and lazy.
that sounds like a lot of work.
i've got other things on my agenda.
i admit an increased interest in edibles
and even exotics like the glow-in-the-dark species we gave away here once.
and i want to research a lot more with edibles
grown out using the standard pf tek [or variations for wood-lovers, etc.]
because i think it'd be nice for folks out there
to have a way to just grow a few nice tasty mushrooms
on a counter-top for personal consumption.

nope, 'fraid not.
not that there's anything wrong with that.
i wish i were 23 again!
or at least had that kind of health & energy.
no, i'm a tired grumpy old man.
i couldn't take your game from you, man.
i think it's fairly valuable to collectors.

Any substance you would recommend staying away from or that you had a bad experience with?

speed of all forms
be it coke or meth or minithins.
speed will eat you up alive,
age you 20 years in 5.

and really here's the thing-
almost every drug
is bad if you take it
too often or take too much.
conversely
almost every drug
is fine if you take it
just a little and not often.

so the key is your appetites,
not the drugs themselves.
if your appetities are out of control
you can destroy yourself on just
about anything from paint thinner
to marijuana to meth, crack, dope, booze.
so master you appetites
and it's all open to you.

After doing some research I found a startling discovery. Hippie is really John Holmes. He faked his own death after many death threats due to the Wonderland murders. So what is it like having a 15 inch tool, do you use it as a hockey stick, or perhaps as a measuring device to determing how much san pedro you should eat? And who was your favorite actress to bone, I would guess Traci Lords !!!
