I think that hydroponic refers to when your only significant nutrient source is a water solution (you may or may not use some sort of a solid medium to grow things on but the medium would not be a significant source of nutrients). In PF Tek the nutrients are in the BRF and the vermiculite simply serves as a water reservoir. I suppose one could stretch the definition and call a liquid culture hydroponic as it fits the definition I gave. I don't really see how one could arrive at an effective way of growing mushrooms like that, however (nor why one would want to).hmmm I thought that the standard PF tek was technically a passive hydroponic cultivation method??? Or does this only apply when there is nutrients IN the water/ or if it's plants?
It uses verm to hold moisture for the myc to draw on.... Isn't this in line with the definition of hydroponics?
Lol, a stretch maybe?

keep em comin :)
I remember a guy saying he found caps the size of dinner plates. A dinner plate is 10 inches in diameter. I don't think anyone has even grown em that big...
The biggest mushroom I have ever found was growing on horse manure in a cypress bog behind a woman's barn. It weighed 250 grams wet. Despite its weight, the cap was no more than 6 inches across.
I have a SA print from i believe Rev. Trips here that measures a bit over 6" across....have you seen some of his rediculous mushrooms?

The revs are insanely big thats for sure. however, I think of a dinnerplate as being 10 - 12 inches across. the Revs are a "salad" plate across. heheh

Nicholas, I've heard all of those before. I have always been discouraged to even try mycology because of all the negative assholes out there. But here I am and I'm almost ready to start up.
Fucking psyched.
good luck ! growing mushrooms is fairly easy and very enjoyable. If I can do it, anyone can do it.

Inexpensive too (at least it can be)...I think my first setup cost me around $30 including spores
I was in for over a grand before I grew my first shroom.
Made a lot of stupid decisions. Bought things I didnt need ect...
But If I started from scratch, I could do it for around that price. At least under 100

As far fetched as some of the advice mistaken as myth found in this thread is, there is some validity in it. Not ALL of it, but some of it holds truth and sincerity. Recreational intake levels of Psiloc(yb)in are by no means going to kill you. Reasonable amounts of inhaled sporedust will not (in most cases) cause a mycelial colony to expand throughout your nasal passages and brain.
Now, as far as myths heard from my own end... Amanita muscaria contains psiloc(yb)in. This is false, because the active compounds within A. muscaria are ibotenic acid and muscimol.

Of course they are. I can get a buzz from a dry gram; a fresh gram does nothing...
i believe the ratio is ten to one...
"cats can sense when u are tripping"
tho i have had a group of cats follow and watch me intently all night while shrooming...animals are good at sensing changes in behaviour...

I once heard some preppy chick that said that you can only feel the effect of mushrooms while your smoking weed at the same time. Frustrating..
sounds like we have a code two here...why the fuck are u sitting there...get that woman a decent shroom quickly...
