Wow. I didn't know that quicklime could be purchased. Some fun stuff can be done with that. I thought the stuff was too dangerous for most people to handle.

No, you are right, what is the danger. I have seen video of the slaking and it gets steaming hot. No worse the dumping water on lye. In 1975 a pound of lye cost $0.33 now it is a couple bucks. That sounds like product liability insurance to me. There are some really dumb people out there.
Still it is nice to know the stuff is available. I wonder if there is something dumb I can do with it.

You should use lead for all the metallic parts on the still including the pot. Just kidding.
