i'll post a few questions
then you answer.
then i'll post a few more,

ok, PF-
i've created a special forum for our interview,
everyone can 'see' and read it
but no one but moderators here can post there.
so i've temporarily promoted you to
moderator status
but restricted you to just that forum.
find it here-

Seems it would be more economical to extract using
isopropyl, then put the crystals into everclear
for storage?
<!-/quote-!>

the only problem is that you can't consume the ispropyl right away; it's toxic. you'll have to evaporate the isopropyl off every time you want to consume the extract.

with everclear, that step is removed.

Have you ever tried salvia?
If so, how did you find it?
How have you found life without MJ?

PF-

Extraction of psilly seems to me like the next obvious step
in the production of spritual / recreational psilocibin.

I have concentrated my efforts on this tek, and I have a question
regarding your everclear tek -

Since everclear is expensive and somewhat hard to come by for some
folks, I'm trying 100% acetone (readily available at any hardware store)
There's a thread in General if you'd like to check out the current progress.

My question:

How important do you think it is to HEAT the slurry before
straining? I see that it is part of your alky tek -
what is your experience with cold filtering vs. warm / hot filtering?

thanks a million,

ps - I have 99% iso on the way - I'll be trying it next. Looks like I
don't have to kill myself, as there are no Safeways here,
(DEA frantically scrambles for Safeway distribution maps)
and NO ONE sells 99% around here - 91% is the highest I could find Posted Image

Yet another music-related question:

You mentioned in this one site that after leaving the Buddy Miles Express, you worked with an "Avant-Garde" group.

Exactly how "Avant-Garde"? Like Ornette Coleman/Free-Jazz? Zappa-esque Progressive Rock? Or something more like Weather Report/Tony Williams' Lifetime....still "Outside", but with a groove that you can kinda shake ya' ass to? Posted Image

And are there any extant recordings of this ensemble? I'd love to hear it...I'm all about that stuff!

sorry red spore? how much deference is there in the shape of the red spores from other psillys? , from what ive read the genus is set .is it the species thats to ? .
its odd to think of a red spore print for a psilly being a pot picker also . ive always gone with the saying (when taking prints and identifiying shrooms )that typiclly (red is dead ) and you should not eat . but i guess if pan. foiensecii can change her spore color and still stay in the pan. genus then this one can to. im just wondering about the spores shape themself . seeing that its not likly all be seeing them myself anytime soon .didnt bother with spell cheack sorry

The Late Bronze Age (Atlanta Geowga) Landslide Records

It started as the "house clearing duo" featuring me and Atlanta's negative talent "musician" Colonel Brucie. We cleared clubs within 15 minutes except for a few tables with people wondering what the fuck was our problem.

I remember a long time ago in a thread on extraction that when there is water present in the alcohol that the psilocybin would oxidize and turn to psilocin which was unstable and would quickly lose potency. Not all potency but it did make a difference. I can't quite remember all the data but I remember reading in an extraction paper by Shulgin that psilocin read higher when they used alcohol with water, so anhydrous alcohol would provide the most efficient extraction for pure psilocybin. Methanol did not extract the psilocybin as efficiently as ethanol. Anyone have any new info or any idea if this is true?
Taken from Erowid:
We generally found variations from one mushroom to another in every species even within P. bohemica from a single location (Gartz and Mueller 1989) and also in controlled cultures (Gartz 1991). Additionally, the high activity of enzymes of the phosphat ase type in the aqueous solutions of alcohols was already described in aqueous mycelial extracts of P. cubensis and other psilocybin containing mushrooms many years ago (BOCKS 1968, Gartz 1993, Weber and Horita 1963). These enzymes were also extracted wit h the water containing solvents and caused a partial dephosphorylation of psilocybin to psilocin (Tables 1 and 3). By using these aqueous soluions it was also observed that in some cases bluish mixtures have been resulted after extraction as a sign of par tial oxydation of psilocin (BOCKS 1968, Gartz 1989a, Weber and Horita 1963). It is also interesting that most of the baeocystin was destroyed during the extraction procedure with water containing alcohols (Tables 1 and 3).

Casale (1985) described the rapid formaion of psilocin after complete dephosphorylation of psilocybin by heating the dilute acetic acid extract. It is now quite clear that the decomposition under these conditions is an enzymatic reaction and was not ca used by the acid alone. For example the phosphoric acid ester psilocybin, baeocystin and aeruginascin in these acidic extracts from I. aeruginacens were stable during heating in contrast to the behaviour of the same alkaloids in solutions of P. cubensis a nd P. cyanescens. It seems that active enzymes of the phosphatase type could be extracted with aqueous acetic acid only in these two species in contrast to water containing alcohols as extraction method. In the past attempts at the sparation of psilocybin and psilocin simply using mixtures of organic solvents and water were also unsatisfactory (THOMSON 1980).

This investigation shows that the high percentage of psilocin detected in P. bohemica (Kysilka and Wurst 1990, Wurst et al. 1992) and not found earlier (Gartz and Mueller 1989) was an artificial phenomenon casued by enzymatic destrucion of psilocybin w hich is common in different species by using water containing organic solvents. Extraction with pure methanol is the safest method to obtain the genuine indole derivatives from mushroom species of various genera.

And we still need SOLIVAR to enlighten us on how the 99% isopropyl is going to work. If that works great, then everything changes to that because the isopropyl is available everywhere and almost the same price as those little bottles of water you buy at the speedy marts.

Working on it, prof!

Actually, 99% ISO is impossible to come by here,
but easy and cheap to find online.

I bet it is there. You just have to call around at all the drug stores and ask if they got it. If safeway has it, that is pretty universal.
