SWIM noticed some odd things happening to his leaves. He thinks it is needing more Nitrogen, but isn't sure as he can't find any sites with pictures to explain nutrient deficincies. What y'all think?

What is the water level in the tub, if it is overfilled it can cause symptoms similar to PH imbalance. Definately looks like poor flow of Chi.

Chi?
looks like pH causing a lockout to me :p
if not it's a phosphorous burn (unlikely) or a micronutrient deficiency (can be solved by adding a dash of GH Flora Micro or even some schultz all-purpose in the green dropper-bottle will fix it up, in a pinch... if it is this. need your pH :eusa_booh)

as an aside, what's the deal with the shoplights? make sure to keep them a centimeter or two from touching your plants, with an oscillating fan rustling the foliage to prevent any leaves from burning should you neglect to check on the babies for a whole day or whatever.

hope u figure it out :)

I don't think so, because there are 3 other plants in the same tub that are doing perfectly.

well SWIM said it's time to give the babies fresh nutes anywho so he'll try adding a little bit extra Micro to them.

At 5$ for a bulb + ballast, it was cheaper to start out this way for my FOAF. He's got 9 of them, and they do more than well enough of a job for what he needs right now. Later he'll add HPS to it.

If the soil is 2parts potting soil, 1part worm castings, 1part perlite, what is the likely hood of an imbalance/deficiency issue if distilled water (RO) is being used?

very unlikely
given the plant size,
the castings should have enough

the round of shootings that came after the leaves in question are now grown enough to the point that I can see they don't have the same problem those leaves did

any chance this was just an odd fluke, since none of the new leaves have them, and none of the other plants have any problems?

the little first leaves always yellow and die off quick, normal
often they also have little defects, but as it grows it pulls out of it,
so yeah, write off as an oddity, no big deal.
