The dark has refiners syurup and vanilla, the light has glucose and vanilla. I have just tried the light after no sucess with the dark. Which of these 2 karo products is better? Or should they both work?
Thanks in advance

the light is crystal clear which is handy when trying to avoid caramelization
but many like the extra vanilla as they feel it gives better growth.
the trick is just remember that a lc is not grain,
it does not need long cooking times at high pressure,
a boil at no pressure or at most 5 psi for
20-30 minutes top is enough to sterilize.

Do you let your lc's breath with a polly or tyveck filter? I have 2/3 pint jars with one tablespoon of karo , 5 psi 15 minutes with polly filter.
