They seem to etiolate easily, I'd leave it be, maybe that is just how they grow.
yeah they do. i just cut mine last month. it was never the fattest cactus(2 1/2 - 3" diameter) but, the last years growth was horrible. the tip was down to 1 1/4". i'm imagining long, skinny pups but, i'll have to wait and see.

Gotta love the pups that summer brings. The best way to avoid etiolation is to put your cactus in a dark cool place when the temps get around 40f at night. I keep mine in the dark all winter and I dont even water them once. It will keep your specimen cacti very even and uniform. Leaving them in a window is a bad idea over the winter. I also set them all outdoors during the spring and summer months, which really boosts their growth.
My spiny pachanoi is growing its third stalk, it is the only one that I have that grows multiple stalks from the soil line.

What would happen if i put my rooted cuttings under a Halide light over the winter, would they still go dormant..?

So just throw em in a closet or something?
If lights and heat mats are availiable, do you still prefer a complete hibernation for the guys? -or should i keep them under a simulation of their prefered temps/ light cycles?

I recommend full dormancy with cool temps and no lights. I use a pantry for my specimen stuff. Nothing uglier than etiolation, click the link.
