nice grow! but i just have a question.... How come on all the pan grows that i see the casing layer looks like paste? like the myc. is having a hell of a time getting any kind of pins thru... not trying to rip on ANYONES grow, but all the grows that i see are like this with the exception of a few. I don't see how the myc. is going to use that thick and solid of a casing layer. I know that pans need to have a casing in order to fruit, but a casing layer like that?? has anyone tried just plain ole medium course grade verm? structurely, verm is awesome and holds water nicely. the reason i ask this, is I plan on going to pans here a bit and i would like to know anyones experience with verm as a casing with them. thanks. :)

I use two casing 'layers'..one thin casing layer of cactus soil and verm etc,..and on top a layer of only verm.
The Pans I have grown so far don't have any problem getting thru those layers at all...

Pretty sweet, are those Tampon filters the only air exchange ,or do you manually ventilate too...?

fahtster: When I did casing, I was out of verm, for it's a real rarity in our town. And the casing layer is not that thick, it's just about 0,5-1 cm.
Golly: I ventilate twice a day by waving 20-30 times with a lid.
spacecake: How thick were casing layers that you used?
