The original thread was starting from spore to agar and isolating a strain per RR guidance. Eventually I did a agar to grain then a grain to grain well here we are, it is a time consuming adventure that is for sure.

I wanted to show all four sides of the jars so a little animation for ya.

I think from the time of spores to agar and strain isolation was about 6 weeks, that was three iterations of isolation. And guessing here but I would think another 5 weeks from agar to grain then grain to grain to where I am now.

I have given up on being in a hurry just set em on the shelf and let them do there thing and when they are done I will do what I do best chow!

No! Keep us updated please. I'm just starting out with a similar attempt. I'm going to use PFT's and clones from the fruit they produce, (instead of agar/plates), to go a few generations. Will be starting some rye jars with my next EQ flush. Not as refined as what you have going here but should give me some strain isolation.

Look what these little buggars did in just six weeks after dropping one drop of spore solution on agar. That's enough sclerotia to dose lightly, and there's two little pins in the foreground. I'm wondering if agar might just be the most efficient bio mass producer. Look at the bang for the amount of substrate consumed.

They should smell like fresh mushrooms. Is it making stones or does it look bad too?

"Is it making stones or does it look bad too?"

I would say both Its been isolated. I think I will take it outside and do some surgery to see what going on in there. I will play it safe on this one.

Peace...

I've noticed if you sniff a month old jar you don't get much smell, but if you shake it up it will smell like fresh mushrooms. If the stones are any size at all, go ahead and bang the jar on a tire to loosen it all up. Pour it out into a plate and separate the stones from the grains. If it all smells like fresh mushrooms, eat up!
