Levitation

This is what I came up with. I drilled holes in the corners of the plastic tray and added some curtain hooks I found laying around. Then I drilled hole in the sides of the tub and ran some thin wire across the inside of the tub through the holes. I bent the ends of the wires to secure them.
Then I simply hung the trays by the hooks on the wires. the trays now seem to float in md air.
I don't know how well you can see this in the pics but here they are...
If you look carefully , you can see pins coming from the bottom of the tray.

i knew it would work
thats why i put my defunked trays on upside down dish washer holders. to elevate them and allow the bottoms to get reflective light and fruit also.
i wonder if the yield is going to increase. or if its just going to spread out the same amount of yield over a larger surface area

Have you tried double tubs yet?
This might help increase yields with the levitation setup.
Eatyualive achieved some nice results by adding another tub on top.
The idea is that two tubs is better than one. Mushies get the benefits of ample headroom
without as much cO2 buildup. The c02 expells out the bottom holes, 02 is pulled in through the top holes.

a wire mesh bag
might be just the ticket

lol
i doubt eatyu needed another tub to get great pix,
he's a master.

that, however, i don't buy into.
it just isn't that simple or easy,
co2 doesn't lay in a puddle on the bottom
as many seem to believe.

I got the idea from here, from Eatualive, who I did not know was also 'waylitjim' so thanks eatu and wylit.

nitrogen and carbon can exist as single atoms where oxygen allways bonds with something even if its another oxygen molecule so which molecule is actualy heavier and would fall.
anyone got the atomic weight of carbon, oxygen and nitrogen?
or what does 1 cubic foot of air weigh?
what does 1 cubic foot of co2 weigh?
different altitudes would also affect density......

wheres a periodic table when yo need it, air at 20% o2 and 80%n or co2

Air does not stratify like people think.
Otherwise humans on the earths surface would be in a poool of CO2?

I think the density of any given gas is going to be related to altitude and it's general distribution or density in the atmosphere. Hippie3's right, ( of course), it doesn't pool. I'm not allowing for radon here, but gases normally found in the air - H, O, N, CO2, don't pool. Brownian motion and all that.

Oxygen = 16
Nitrogen = 14
CO2 = 44
Most of the gas we breathe is N2, some O2, CO2, Argon, Methane (thanks Dooby, DAMN!!) and other trace gasses. The nature of gasses is the molecules are constantly bouncing around and will not settle out in layers, in most cases and especially in a small semi-open environment. I would think a Tub is a dynamic enough environment that there is always the mixing to a fairly uniform homogenous gas. If you go through pains to seal the tub and wait long enough, you might get stagnant air...and Trich, but even then I doubt any layering. Not 100% sure tho.
BTW here is a cool Periodic Table: http://images.google...imagesr&start=2
What? You don't need one in english do you? LOL!

exactly.
the only way co2 would settle out
would be if there were no heat
and no circulation/movement of air.
but that never happens.
shrooms are living organisms,
and their cells, like all living cells,
generate heat which is lost to
the environment.
the air next to the tissue is warmed, causing it to expand
which lowers its' density and therefore causes it to rise,
where it expands even further and cools,
then it drops yet again to repeat the cycle
of convection.
this occurs in all terrariums.
co2 doesn't not settle out to the bottom
but instead is mixed with the other gases present,
o2 but primarily nitrogen and a tiny % of a few others.
