This new one is at day 5 since I spawned 4 brf 1/2 pints of Z to it. I put it in the walk in closet where my other one ended up after taking forever in the incubator. I stuffed the top with a big ball of poly with an elastic holding it closed and left it alone. It is really taking off.
Hippie, I noticed there is some straw in this one and there are filter patches instead of poly filled holes. The filter patches keep things alot cleaner.
Thanks for the upgrades this one is goin' nuts.
Remember this is day five!
Here is the whole package ready to go:

I don't know if it is Hippie getting into his groove with these or me having one under my belt, but I am seeing a BIG improvement over the first one of these I tried....Hippie, I noticed there is some straw in this one and there are filter patches instead of poly filled holes. The filter patches keep things alot cleaner.
Thanks for the upgrades this one is goin' nuts....Hippie can a brother get a current recipe?

switched to tyvek filters because it breathes better.
some straw to help fluff, not much tho'
still roughly 50/50 donkey doo & coir but
just steamed for moisture content so maybe just
a hair drier than before, more evenly distributed.
imo .

that's kite tyvek, not that paper crap.
compress bag down then raise to fill with air
and you'll see how much better the airflow is now.

TJ....did you do anything different this time like re-pasteurize before adding spawn, or anything different at all??
Looking good bro!

No I didn't re-pasteurize or anything, used it right out of the box. Only thing different on my end was that I really concentrated on getting the spawn mixed in good, and that I started it out in a well ventilated area instead of an incubator.
