Here's a little update from my Pyote growlog from this year.
http://mycotopia.net...ed-growlog.html

The little Peyotes are getting shaped real good now,so for all of you guys that have started growing Peyotes this year, and now have those long small seedlings growing,..well,don't worry after a couple of month there gonne get thicker and will look like the picture below.

There aboud 5 month old now and are in a warm (18-35 oC night/day) shady place ,and only get some direct sunshine at night.
I'm giving them water every one to two weeks.
Here they are...

You mean the three to four years old Peyotes ?
Well I think I will take some shots of most of my cacti collection and post it tommorow.

I'm planning on growing (and cutting) new Peyotes every years,so that I will have a big collection of flowering Peyotes by then !
I have one very old cacti that is now giving up pups, that are growing to mature size in two to three years,..so those will be cut and transplanted to there own pots !
Hopefully the sun will be shining and I can take a good shot of this one..(my favorite) !

Yes,I could graft them, but I like them just this way,and I'm in no rush...
I think the smaller ones will eventually be lost, because they will allways stay weak and slow.

killer man! they look great for 5 months! i totally agree, seed grown cacti look way better than grafts. the only reason i like grafts is to get more seeds faster.

good on ya for growing form seed!

Great looking space! Are you using empty salad containers are containers!?! I do that also.

Just curious, you planted the seeds, i would imagin directly on the surface of your soil. At any point did you sprinkle extra sand/ stone on the top layer to support the growth, and allow the roots and elongated bodies to be a little under the soil's surface?

Looks awesome. WHat is the material being used as the top layer? It is some kind of stone fragments? Is it vermiculite?

Yep your right ,..those are empty sald containers Verbaadam !

I plant the seeds on top of the mixture and cover them with a little bit of vermiculiet...
Be carefull when you want to moisten the vermiculiet, because when you spray to close.. the vermiculiet and seeds will be blown away !

Keep the soil wet the first three month...,and the rh high.
After that you can let the soil dry-out before watering again, and you can lower rh.

I have no new pictures at this time, all cacti are stored in a cold dark place to rest.
I will take some new shots in april on the progress of these little babies,if I do not forget...

Here's an old shot of my biggest Peyote !

thats really cool. it would be great to have some specimens in different stages and ages, especially if it was that old. it would be the same for any plant though. lol, you dont eat your grandmas christmas cactus but you can sure get cuttings from it.
