It's near time to dig up the Pedro patch..
From May to October, these non rooted cuttings grew 2-5 inches ..
I want to harvest the flat topped cuttings for "entertainment" and save the rest for propagation next year..
So my question is; If i leave about 3 ins with the root -will that be enough for regeneration..?
Also ,the smaller buds ,i plan to break off - should they be replanted now or just keep em in a cool dry dark place till next spring..?

Thought i would revive this thread, as it's now the second season for replanting Pedro..
I did give a couple of cuttings away but you can see that the patch has expanded from last summer..
Cactus growth is reported to be more rapid when transfered to the garden bed.
Once again i mixed in a fair amount of perlite to improve drainage..Also added Bone meal and other dry organic ferts...
The soil is still warming, so i'm going to wait b4 spreading mulch..
