Testing out the performance of the Puerto Rican strain
in modified Buckaroo Bulk Nugget style jars.
modified meaning 1/2 gallon jars were substituted
with smaller jars until bags arrive

4 Quarts and 1 Pint were prepared &
The jars began to colonize right on schedule.
bb patch colon.jpg
i love the way the popcorn and coir looks when the myc starts spreading

roughly midway through a good shaking was given
bb style stage 1 again6.jpg
and then
the jars were left to recover.
bb style phase 2.jpg

pr bb jars early.jpg
in this pic the two jars recovery is now stable
and heading towards full colonization.

the quarts were then left to pin and fruit invitro.

the smaller skinny fruits lead me to believe that
the lids must be modified
and/or the jars need to be filled with less sub

by this time the jars were tossed in the FC
so some fruits could pop up out of the jars
:headbang:always wanted to try that

here is one nice curly fruit from a QT jar
pr nice specimen fc.jpg
the little pint did okay for itself too ;)
pr fruit from pt bb style.jpg
i'm sure 1/2 Gallon jars would give a nice yeild.

some filter patch bags will be the next experiment with the BB nugget tek.
next time going for size and quantity :D

Can't wait to try this tek in mycobags although
Next time it will be the Hillbilly strain

this was fun to see the workings of the popcorn/coir layers
and understand them a little better.
good practice for the future experimentations :weedpoke:

in the end all the spawn was mixed with some oven-past. compost
and fruited one flush before contams took over.

a nice handful of PR's from the compost bin

not a big grow - but more of a fun experiment :rasta:
looking forward to trying the filter patch bags

Feel free to post your
Buckaroo Bulk nugget -type experiments
in this thread

hey vinz the pins invitro took about 12 days but
the pins in the FC only took about 6 days
pr bb pin from above qt.jpg

Sunstar - the jars above are only pint and quart jars
mini versions of what they were meant to be
for a real nice yeild i think the bags or gallon jars would be perfect

here is a link to Buckaroo's thread
and here is one of Buck's gallon jars:

i would think this would do better if the pcorn and coir were intermixed at start -
but then i haven't done layers yet -
then spawned after full colonization
into sandbags .
i love the pics of the layers though,

Cool stuff, mycobri. Fun to work with grains and pooh and spawning without having to worry about open air contamination!

Watching the myc run the popcorn and then the pooh is very cool.

Hip, I think you get faster total colonization speed by letting the popcorn run then mixing into the sub. If the sub moisture isn't just right, sometimes a jar/bag goes soooo slow from a big LC shot (terribly slow from multispore).

With the layers, you can run the popcorn in like 3-4 days then mix and run the bulk sub in another 3-4 (from 3-5mL of multispore syringe water). 4 days total isn't impossible with a good isolate and a fat 30-50mL of LC to start.

The layers is a little more hands on screwing with them too, which I like.

I think spawn bags are the best containers for full on in-vitro. The filter patch bags are utterly fantastic. No need to open them until harvest. Never did the Sandbag thing, but I can totally understand it.

Cubensis needs very little fresh air to fruit and thrive - as long as it is kept in sterile conditions. I mean, it will fruit on a filmed plate laying in a windowsill!

The puffed out bag stuffed with fruit is neat as hell looking, too...

Ya gotta be clean for the dunk/re-fruit, but you can get two or three flushes pretty easily with all the poo. Thats why I love the poly - it rehydrates very well.

You can totally mix all the popcorn in from the beginning, but I think the results are just a little more desirable running the popcorn layer first.

One way or the other, I like being able to sterilize everything. I found Pasteurizing poo to be a damned hard skill to master - so I gave up!
