Here's the Thatch/grass/weed after sun drying for 2 weeks ..Placed in large pot n' brought to a near boil..

After sittin fer a spell - i will drain most of the water then add about 20% dry verm for rez effect and to achieve proper hydration..

Will be divided between Trops n' Cubs spawn..

Someone should try to eat lawn grass for a week and use their poo for a sub and see if it will work. I dont think i want to be the guinea pig for this one though.

The two Thatch trays just spawned..Falbino and Trop...

2nd n' 3rd pic is about 36 hours later..There is no hesitation in the leap off, on to the grass..

Essentially, we're just cutting out the middle man - Cow or compost pile in this case..
Even the still green grass is being consumed...

So you just use this mix as a bulk substrate after you already have your cake made right? I am just making sure I understand this.. What a great idea =)

if you aren't a horse or a cow with multiple stomachs
it ain't going to work.

Yeah,, the Thatch grass is the bulk sub..I bring to just boiling then turn off n' let sit for an hour...Drain most of the water ,then add dry verm to soak up the excess..

If your using a high sub to spawn ratio like 5:1 or more, then pasteurizing at 160F may be better..I go about 4:1 so the grass is consumed b4 mold can establish...

The grass Sub is doing pretty well again, although they've been a bit neglected.

Chamber is running cool but the Trops still pulled through..Falbino's are
quite fascinating and seem to like plane ol'e grass n' weeds too..The pic shows a side fruiting Falbino
that is about 5% colored..They come in mixed percentages of color ,which makes 'em
fun to watch..
Also testing another species ,Ps. Hispanica for adaptability to the grass substrate..
So far they're colonizing well ..i'll post a pic ltr...
