After many emails and praying i finally got 4 Bufo Alvarius.

Im happy because here in europe it is much more difficult to get them then in the US.

When somebody from europe want alvarius contact me. I have now new friends they bring them from time to time to europe. But they are not cheap.

They look really good prankster.
Did you get them all at the same time? And are you planning to breed them?
What is their diet?

1. Yes i get them all at the same time. It need many months to get them here. An us guy bring it to germany and so i get it.

2. No. I think when you want to simulate the breeding time you first have to let them bury for some months and then simulate rain and give them many food. Maby in the future i try it but i think it isent nice when the toads croak for many days :amazed:

3. Here is many food avalible. I use crickets, zophobas, pink mice, worms. Everything i can buy in the pet stores. I dont feed them with wild insects because you can get mite and other ugly things.

I hope the new terrarium arrive quick, i wait now a week :puke:. Then i post some new pics.

Glad to see you got some of these amazing animals. I am also glad that someone has them who will not have them or get them just for there venom. I have never milked mine and probably never will, I just dont like to use things. I am a vegetarian not a vegan so I guess I could under my personal dietary guidelines. I just could never bring myself to do it, especially when you can obtain this chemical other ways. However dont plants have feelings also, they just cant verbally express them. If a head of lettuce kills another head of lettuce does it scream or does the murderer lettuce feel guilty. I think so...
sorry I am getting off track, but glad you got them and I am glad that you seem to be one who doesnt think of them self as a pet owner but a care tacker. I am trying to find a good person to sell mine to while I move, I love him/her I just am not able to have him/her where I move to. I have friends who locally want him/her but they would treat the poor thing like a prostitute who is in front of a prison. That is something I wish upon no one.
thanks,
Albo

weepwoop if you are worried about plants feelings, don't worry about it. Plants them selfs cant FEEL pain, they don't have a sensory system to feel pain, or comprehend it.

Nice toads! Ive wanted these kinds of toads for more than what they can produce but as a pet. I don't have time for toads right now though!

Nice toads prankster!

You named the one Uschi after Uschi Obermaier? If so, great choice.

I think she only want to look. The toads are to big for this cat.

Today i get new feed. I buy everything to see what they like.

It look like they eat everything. I dont tested the 3 cockroach species i buy. Some look really big :amazed:

Bigger maggots look like an great feed, they like it very much. I also buy every maggot species i can get.

Prank, Cockroaches are GREAT feeders. Good deal!

Get a colony started, they aren't that hard to raise. Just need to be kept warm, and I'm sure you might have some left over supplies to heat a tank with :pirate:.

I had mine in a 10 gallon, got some water gel (no calcium in it if you can find it), and I feed them dog food and fresh veggies. Kept it warm, put some egg flats in the tank, they did great with regular misting (so the egg casings didn't dry out), some roach species do need some substrate, but the good feeder roaches don't!

I had gotten some B. latteralis (cant climb or fly nor do they smell) Once they get going good you have unlimited feeders with GREAT nutrition and great meat to shell ratio compared to Crickets.
Feeder Roaches from New York Worms:Roaches

(Edit) Do I see a nepenthes in that last picture?
