1lb popcorn with some rye spawn added from a grain master jar. (Multispore) Large sized myco bag.

Never misted, never fanned... was gonna toss it cuz of some contam in one corner, but kept it in a side area... Fruits sure enough :) 110g fresh.

they look so healthy, especially with a contam in the corner. maybe the contam helped make the surviving myc stronger. just like in RR thread on the agar dish. the standoff between the myc and the green.

He used mycobags, they have a filter patch for air exchange, some have a self healing injection site.

2nd bag not even sealed with a sealer... The top was just rolled over many many times to make a decent seal. :)

Is it all right to seal a mycobag before PC'ing or can you put
the mycobags in the PC upside down with the top part of
the bag wrapped up towards the bottom of the inverted bag .

as far as i think not really know for sure you cant seal the bag or else it would fill up with air and explode kinda like with jars you always keep the jar lids a little loose for air to escape so pressure doesntr build inside the cotainer....so def seal afterward thats could cataclismic if your pc exploded sicnce when bags expand with air it would block your hole so air wouldnt escape from the pc as well....KABOOOMMMM!!!!!!!! peace.....

dont seal and def use rubberbands or clothes pins.if you go the rubberband way make sure the tops are covered with foil and some how sticking up.then seal after they are pced...peace

Yea, I seal them all the time before pc'ing. If you'll heat the PC slowly, there won't be a problem. The filter patch will allow for enough exchange to prevent blowing up the bag. You must also allow the PC to cool very slowly after the time has expired. Don't try to pop the weight off the top or you'll blow the seals on the bag. Be sure to keep something on top of the bags so they don't unfurl and block the vent opening on your pressure cooker.

wow learn something new everyday..thanx rodger i always thought the bags would swell up and block the hole.a weight or rock is def a good idea at all times with bags i guess....peace

Hey my buddy wants to do some experiments with fruiting from a mycobag... letting it reach full colonization and then cutting off the top and placing in a fruiting chamber. He usually uses birdseed to spawn from since it can be broken up into so many little inoculation points... but in this case would anyone suggest a different mix? Should I fill with cow poo, straw, brf, birdseed, or a mixture of the above? Thanks for your suggestions.

I think birdseed is fine. Look up 'Glorious harvest' in the grow log/photo gallery forum plus the thread linked to it, and you'll know what must be done...to heck with the fruiting chamber!

since you won't be spawning nor casing
i'd create a rez-effect type mixture,
i.e. say 50/50 wbs/verm.
it'll do better than straight grain in bags
