this is the most aggressive of the 3 pan strains being worked on now. compared to pan goliath, pan jamaica.
here are two pics. one of the pan mycelia on popcorn spawn and one on wild bird seed spawn. these jars are setup to create liquid mycelia syringes for injection using agars mycelial culture tek at the shroomery. 3 days growth.

oh yeah this is the first try with popcorn spawn. if it weren't so expensive, it would be substituted for wbs. really likin it now. .99cents a pound at whole foods. 6$ for a 40lb bag of wbs. it would be 40$ for that amount pound for pound with wbs. but it is something going to be mixed in with the grains.

picked up some quinoa
some red wheat winter berries
white millet
amaranth

just to change speed for a while. have to toy with everything you know!

this is really strange. well first of all the first batch of these guys were heat damaged in transit. then the next batch had 1cc of spore solution added to 1 level teaspoon dextrose to 75ml water. pced for about 30 mins then allowed to cool. injected and about 2 days later germination was observed. this was then stirred repeatedly and injected to pf jars for further growth. colonization was rather slow even though it was very aggressive mycelia. took 2 weeks for a pf jar to fully colonize with lc injection. but on grain it took 3 days for what you see without any shaking.

spawned to 30% dung/ 30% coir/ 30% verm ratio to field capacity via http://mycotopia.net...ingle-tubs.html.

spawn ratio is 2 quarts wbs to 1 turkey tin of the above mix.

these will be fruited in single tubs with saran wrap lids with holes poked in the saran wrap by needles. this will then be fanned by a hairdryer once daily. twice if necessary. lets see what happens.

jars were allowed to colonize a bit extra due to laziness. everything smelled extra panny. mmmmm...i miss that smell.

one bin is going to be fruited directly off dung.

the other fruited wtih a casing layer.

a few strawnet experiments will be tested soon.

Red Down Under, I think. Supposed to be a red spored variant if memory serves me correctly.

You rarely see the RDU grows so this should be interesting. The microscopic features are unusual and look tropicalis-like but since its a mutation I can't be sure. Fortunately, I have the original black spored culture going now and hope to have some results in a month or so.

Hey, eatyu, I'm not entirely sure about listing places for supplies here...but 50lb bags of popcorn can be found at the bigger "bulkier" brother of ***-mart. They cost about $12 and are an awesome deal. Couple that with a 50lb bag of wbs, and thats a hundred pounds of grain spawn for barely 20 bucks.

Ya beat me to it, Scientia! I picked up 50# myself a while back at "that place." Helluva deal! Good corn, too, colonizes like a bastard!

Oh don't have a card for the big bulkier #@$mart. currently picked this up at whole foods for .99cents a lb. loving the corn spawn but finding that the wbs colonizes quicker with more inoc points.

still debating on whether to get an aquarium pump for air exchange. probably going to try it this way then if it fails or does decent upgrade two bins to have some more passive air exchange. lets see what happens. ive followed the oldskool mushmush.nl tek for pans in the past with dub tubs and it worked. so lets see if it will prevail with single tubs and saran wrap lids. no other way to figure it out but test it. and if it fails, tons of spawn can be produced for this strain. its currently being made into lc's in a similar fashion as fahtsters liquid culture syringe tek.

workman, can't wait, its growth rate is very aggressive and quite impressive compared to most other pan strains worked with. these include pan. cambodginiensis, pan cyans, pan trops or this could have been the florida cyan.

well this wbs is the crappy wild finch seed from pennington. steeped and cleaned. pced for one hour. the popcorn was done using a 1 hour boil and then pced for 1 hour. the mycelia is loving both. and it has been spawned. a quick observation was made through the tub in the dark but nothing looked substantial yet. will keep you updated. and prankster, you know that if these guys drop spores, im sending you like as many as possible with some other goodies!

yeah these are going to be in single tubs with saran wrap. the bins are in a room with a fast heavy duty oscillating fan. if there are problems the polyfil may be removed or a fishtank pump will be added like you are using. we will have to see. it may be enough to fan early morning, mid day, and night with a hairdryer. or maybe just not do anything and see. definitely will mess with every method.
