followed this guide and some tips from a friend :)

so my first mistake here was that i worked with glass jars..
HDPE is the way and i learned it the hard way hehe

anyway, glass jars with water..


then lab grade xylene..


then my syringe + pipette
[it helps to do pulls to reach the bottom of the jars if you dont have a sep. funnel]


and lye..


after putting the lye in with the water and letting it dissolve, add the cacti powder


mix it very very well
- i put the cover of the jar inside a latex glove and closed the jar really tight. rolled and shook it until you see it mix up well

after a few hours you will notice the layers separating



distilled water

transfer the top layer into another container [glass or HPDE]


then in the water add a few drops of muriatic acid


when you pour in the water with HCL into the container with the xylene, make sure you mix it by SWIRLING not by shaking. this has given me cleaner results and was my mistake why i got dark brown crystals in my first pulls


after the water separates at the bottom, use a sep. funnel or a gadget like mine to pull it out and let it evap on a dish



*this is why i do not recommend glass anymore
- lye scratches the glass and causes it to crack and break


evap the dishes by fan & double boiler to make it faster

tested out 600mg of the dark dirty mesc and it was great
loved it except for the 2 hours of nausea in the beginning
still havent tried it again

My friends and I have had bad reactions to brown mescaline that wasn't acetone cleaned...I will never take brown mescaline again that isn't cleaned...once you clean it, you may find the nausea is reduced considerably, and you may feel like taking it again.

I took the acetone cleaned stuff over a dozen times, excellent experiences and no nausea at 300mg and less so far...but you couldn't pay me to take the non-cleaned stuff...

again, great work.

I use a glass carboy, no problems with lye etching but then again I add my lye to water seperately then add it to the caroby when it's good and mixed, never had a carboy break yet.

yes, most certainly.

the latest addition to foaf's tek is an acetone wash at the end, this was added by ion years ago in his own thread.

It works wonders.

spreading your dose out by taking 100mg every 1/2 hour helps too. I have zero nausea, not even a hint with 300mg doses and less from acetone washed mescaline and spreading the dose out. Mescaline hits all the serotonin receptors, so nausea can be reduced by certain methods.

i dont like the thought of using HDPE for any type of acid base extraction, i like to do my mescaline extraction while the whole deal is bitchass hot, it tends to fully seperate in 60 seconds or less and since its hot i know its dissolving more alkaloids, i just dump in cactus powder and water (160g cactus per half gallon water) into a crockpot and crank up the heat and stir constantly, when you get simmering going on you just dump it hot into your 1 gallon glass jugs (organic apple juice). i always plan for 160g cacti and half gallon water per gallon jug, if you use to much cacti it will take hours to seperate. usually i do 3 jugs at once so into the crockpot i put 1.5 gal water and 480g cacti powder. so now you have 3 jugs half full of steaming hot cacti snot. have prepared, at least 250g lye per gallon jug, the more the better, if you put so much that it becomes super saturated and wont dissolve anymore that is not a problem, add the lye slowly and very carefully, since the water is already hot from the simmering it will boil quite readily and if you just dump lye in there willy nilly it could definitely boil over. as soon as the lye is mixed in, add like and inch or 2 of toluene, seal it, shake it for 5 seconds, open the lid very slowly to release pressure from the newly hot solvent vapors, seal the lid once more and roll it gently back and fourth on the floor for at least 10 minutes (i usually do 20-25), as long as you work somewhat quickly you have time for 3 pulls before the jugs even begin to cool down. i have seen toluene and xylene destroy too much shit to trust any type of plastic to hold it once its mixing and melding with near boiling liquid. i would never use any kind of plastic to do acid base extractions, i once used a plastic tukey baster that was supposed to be super resistent to heat and wear and it turned to powdery goop within a minute of contacting the solvent. ive used the same glass jugs over a dozen times and they show no signs or wearing out at all. also you should have gotten a shitload more than 2g from a kilo of cactus. if i process a kilo using my methods i can always get over 10g, usually around 15g.
