So I have some TX on a 2nd flush and cant figure out why neither flush is that large. So, I just now went to dunk to get ready for a third flush and something tells me to look at the bottom of the casing. When I flip it over, the whole bottom of the casing has mushys all over it. They look like they were growing invitro under the casing. What may have caused this?

the same thing happened with both of my laundry baskets. I think it had some kind of contam or possibly too dry on the top. I dunno but it sucked. cause it really hurt the size of the flush and made the mushies all ugly.

light could have possibly penetrated the casing through the side or reflected down the sides to the bottom? they have a strong will to grow? who knows really. gotta love freebies

The other thing is that I normally use a layer of verm under the substrate and this time I didnt. I wonder if that had a part to play in it.

Are you containers 100% opaque?

if not, that is the issue, it was for my FOAF, he was using blue cat litter pans and they are not 100% opaque. Once liked with Al foil this stopped hapening.

The containers are aluminum foil roasting pans, thats all I ever use.
These were the first to do this.

I've had that happen with TX before. Never with any other strain. TX doesn't seem to need light to pin, it only needs little CO2 pockets. Putting a verm layer on the bottom does make it less of a problem.

Yeah, but dumping out the casing to get them so they don't rot is a BIG mess.

Figuring out when and which trays have them is also hard.

Also, cleaning them takes forever.

Well, what I ended up doing was picking them, cleaned them (which took forever), short-dunked and recased upside-down with verm on top and bottom.
We'll see what happens.

sounds like your on the right track, I'm on my first tex grow but you seem to be in the middle of an epidemic, tex seem to grow almost anywhere and defey most of our "rules". Just a small blessing as far as I'm concerned

Well, Hopefully third on this third flush, they will now grow upright and Im able to print some.

Hey Insight, I have the same problem except I used ziploc rubbermaid containers. How did you go about getting them off. I only ask because the ones on the bottom of my casing all seem to be growing faster, so I think in 2-3 days they will be matured but the ones on top are just now starting to show up and i have a feeling many more are going to show up in the next 1-2 days.

I use roasting pans, which 2 of them fit inside my rubbermaids. I just flipped the pans upside down, harvested, dunked and recased.

If there are still shrooms growing on the top when the bottom ones are ready, just lift up the side of the casing, carefully as not to break it, and pick the shrooms that are ready. Then you can continue to let the surface shrooms grow.

The only time Ive seen this happen really bad was with texas in a white container. I think the container reflected alot of light.
